tion, as the lead agency who then pays the child care provider directly for services. Providers must be stateapproved child care providers to receive federal money. Children's Bureau is the grantee for the next two years. Children's Bureau will collaborate with the local community groups such as the Step Ahead Council, during the grantee term.

Meals on Wheels celebrates When Herbert Woodruff's lunch is delivered on Oct. 21, he won’t find a pizza-toting teenager standing at his door. Meals on Wheels helps people like Herbert, a 93-year-old great-grandfather, hold onto independence and dignity by remaining in their own homes. Not all recipients are elderly. Some are disabled, recovering from an illness or surgery, or otherwise unable to prepare meals for themselves. About 400 people receive a hot lunch, a deli dinner and a friendly greeting from one of Meals on Wheels' 1,400 volunteer drivers each weekday. New voter registrants The Marion County Voter Registration Office is informing voters of a request letter being mailed to certain new registrants. Under a new federal law, if you register to vote for the first time in Marion County after Jan. 1, 2003, you must present to the Voter Registration Office a copy of a personal identification document before voting in the 2004 elections. Voters that receive this notification are urged to provide the document as soon as possible. The information may be submitted by mail, fax or in person. Examples of acceptable documentation are: a valid photo ID, such as an Indiana driver license, utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document other than your voter registration card.
