CONSPIRACY ► Continued from Page C3 Mrflc'omi X most fascinating, for we liwfii ^iat the FBI had so intiltratrci the ranks of the Nation of Islam that Malcolm’s own mosttrusted bodyguard, Gene Roberts, w as an NYPD detective. Roberts admits that he witnessed a dry run of Malcolm’s well-orches-trated assassination, and that he later took some flak from the department for trying to resuscitate the bleeding leader after he’d been shot. “I’m a cop. And this is what BORIS ► Continued from Page C3 I was reading about you in Vibe magazine this week. Have you had a chance to read it? No, what did they say? They said that you were dating Serena Williams; can you tell me about that? They’re late, that is so old. People have been saying that for a long time and that’s really getting old. Do you think the rumor is still around because you used to play tennis? Well, yeah. She’s a very good friend, she’s like my little sister, and 1 love her. We work out together. I train with her when she’s in LA and sometimes I fly out to Florida. So maybe when people see us together that is what they assume or maybe they want to see us together, I have no idea, but it’s really getting old. I understand that last season was your finale on “Soul Food”? Yes, that is correct. Why exactly did you leave the show? There comes a time w hen you have to leave the nest. You have to move on, spread your w ings and do other things. You know', kind of find out what you want to do in life and that’s the situation that I found myself in. 1 spent three beautiful years on the show, it was a great time. 1 had a lot of great experiences, I learned a lot, it was very educational and I was being embraced by a great family, friends, and very talented actors. There came a time to move on because I had offers to do features in movies and that’s what I wanted to do, so I had to bounce.

cops are supposed to do - save people,” Roberts explained, acknowledging that he had grown fond of Malcolm after spending years with him, though always deep undercover. As to who killed Malcolm and why, the book leaves little doubt that it was the work of FBI operatives who had instigated a feud between Malcolm and the Nation. Several internal CIA memos urged that Malcolm be taken out

And you have a role on Showtime’s “Street Times” this upcoming season? They asked me to do two episodes and it gave me a chance to play another type of character. People sort of see me as romantic and in the romantic lead and I wanted to show that I could do other things. And I played a dark character that was corrupted. It was fun. What other up and coming things are you working on? I don’t know' if you’ve heard of this new show called “Skin,” it’s produced by Jerry Bruckheimer? Yes, I have heard of that show. I accepted a recurring role on that show so whenever I have time to do moves I can go and do one or two episodes on the show'. It’s on Fox. It’s a cool concept; it is basically like Romeo and Juliet. It’s about a porn king and a district attorney, they both have tw'o kids and the kids fall in love with each other. The kids arc trying to bring the district attorney down and the district attorney is trying to bring the porn king down. I play the district attorney. Did you happen to acquire some of your “attorney acting skills” from Nicole from the role she played as the lawyer Terri on “Soul Food”? Whenever I worked with Nicole is a blessing because she’s the best actress on the planet. She’s so versatile and she’s so strong and beautiful and I learned a lot from her whenever I watched her or worked with her. So everything I’ve learned is from her be-

because of his increasingly strong ties to African and Arab nations and his plans to make a human rights claim on behalf of African Americans in the United Nations. Considering that all he was advocating was equality, Malcolm's heartfelt words sound so mild today, especially when compared with the details of the paranoid plans of the demons determined to kill him. Still scan - .

cause I w as blessed to be in every scene with her during “Soul Food.” It made me a better actor. So yes to answer your question; I’ve learned a lot from her. Another little word on the street is that you and Nicole boughtahouseinLA Isthattrue? (Laughing) That’s the little word on the street? Well, I guess a big word on the street That’s funny, that’s hilarious. Yes, we actually moved in about three weeks ago. Really? How is it going as far as decorating and everything? You don’t want to rush it. You don't want to furnish your house in two days because you have to feel it. So we’ve taken our time, but it’s a great time right now because we get to spend some time in LA. We’re not traveling for the next couple of weeks until we both are off doing different movies. So right now we’re enjoying the time being in the house and getting to know the area. What was it about Nicole that made you want to develop an off camera romance with her? Nicole is everything. She’s the full package. She’s a beautiful human being inside and out. She has a lot to give and she’s perfect. Is she coming to Indianapolis with you? Actually she won’t be able to make it. Nicole’s not coming this time, she might come next time. OK Boris, thank you for talking with me. Thank you very much, Ericka. I appreciate your time.
