Internet site allows Hoosiers to find their legislators Indiana Secretary of State Rokita has unveiled a new Internet feature designed to help Hoosiers find their federal and state legislators. The secretary of state’s office, in conjunction with accesslndiana and the Indiana General Assembly, partnered to create this user friendly, all-encompassittg Web application. 1 ».• ' ' ^ Who’s Your Legislator? is one of the first online geographic information system (GIS) applications available from the state’s Web portal. “It is important for Hoosiers to know that this is one of the best examples to date of several government agencies working together to bring a powerful tool into every home at very little expense,” said Rokita. The interactive site allows a user to find his/her state senator, state representative, and United States representative by entering his/her ZIP code or approximate geographic residence location on the Indiana map available at the site. The user may navigate this map with direction arrows and zoom features; the map provides a visible indication of street names as the user zooms. The site also offers additional information like political party affiliation and direct links to a legislator’s Web site, current legislation by legislator, and e-mail address. “Finally, Hoosiers can quickly and easily find their legislators by entering just a ZIP code.
