Family violence centers should be established by the church, and operated by recovered victims of family violence, Williams suggests in her analysis. “Victims of domestic violence live in fear and isolation. This fear can only be confronted with the help of a community network of people.” Williams also believes that misinterpretation of the Bible has aided in keeping domestic violence alive and well. “As we approach the 21 st century, the church has to initiate a support system that will help bridge the gap between secular and religious help,” Williams writes. “The
law of the land must meet the laws of God to fully have an impact in solving the problems of family violence.” Williams does not think the problem can be solved without everyone working on it together. It takes everyone to first acknowledge, then work on solutions. “The church, theological community and the family have to become married to each other in a common bond of love and understanding to bring the family back to the plan that God had ordained for the family and church,” she said.
