Public Transit Section (PTS) is in the process of filing a Governors Certification with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) which will attest that the Intercity Bus needs of the state of Indiana are being adequately met The Section 5311(f) program defines intercity bus service as an intercity route, which is a regularly scheduled fixed route connecting two or more urban areas, not in close proximity. The state of Indiana has undertaken good faith efforts to solicit projects which would provide intercity bus transportation sen/ices The Governor’s certification does not entail the cessation of the program. The certification states that all reasonable efforts to allocate funding to viable projects have been exhausted and the absence of additional applications (filed by/before established deadlines) indicates that all demand for such services have been met. The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) intends to request permission from FTA to utilize the balance of the 2002 Intercity funding allocations (1640,813) toward implementation of regular Section 5311 transportation projects.
