Hip trio Trin-i-tee 5:7 releases its third album this week

By ANTRAC1A MOORINGS Gospel’s hip trio Trin-i-tee 5:7 released its third album on Aug. 6. The album is the follow-up to the group’s gold album, “Spiritual Love.” The Kiss features a number of talented producers including PAJAM, R&B hitmakers Keith & Darren, Fred “Uncle Freddie” among others. And for the first time, each of the giris tried their hand at producing. The three group members individually wrote and produced a song each and collaborated on the track “16 Again.” The result is an album foil of

edgy R&B grooves over heartfelt gospel lyrics. A recent spotlight feature in R&R’s CCM Update describes the highly anticipated new project as being filled with “popflavored hooks and groovy beats.” “There’s an evolution of progress from Spiritual Love,” says group member Adrian Anderson. “We have more life experience, more experience in our relation-

ship with Christ, and as women from being on the road, traveling abroad and domestically. You get that maturity with The Kiss.” This month and next, the group will be touring with Ray Bady, Men of Standard and Tonex. The Aug. 16-Sept. 15 tour schedule will include concerts in St. Louis, Kansas City, Greensboro, Charlotte, Greenville, Chattanooga, Atlanta, Nashville, Huntsville, Memphis, New Orleans, Raleigh, Cincinnati, Detroit, Chicago, Vero Beach, Orlando, Miami and Jacksonville. Trin-i-tee 5:7 will also headline the 9th Annual Joyful Sound gospel concert in Indianapolis,Friday,

Oct.4 at the Historic Walker Theatre, as part of the 19th Annual Circle City Classic weekend. ***** Hitting the Road: Richard Smallwood, Karen Clark-Sheard, Donald Lawrence, Maurette BrownClark and Ted & Sheri will embark on a 20-city “Alliance Tour” starting Aug. 30. They will make stops in large churches and auditoriums. The tour, sponsored by the Akili Smith Foundation (Smith is a quarterback forthe Cincinnati Bengals), and promoted by Roger Holmes’ Alliance Agency, is planned to run through the second or third week of October. Last year. Holmes put on the

tour featuring Donnie McClurkin and CeCe Winans. Speaking of tours, this fall Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams and Donnie McClurkin will be teaming up. Tour promoter A1 Wash says the tour will begin in early fall, break for the Thanksgiving holiday and then get started again after the new year. ***** New Destiny: Dr. Ed Montgomery, pastor of Houston’s Abundant Life Cathedral will present his dynamic “Change Your Destiny Live” ministry at the BTI Center/ Meymandi Theater, in Raleigh, N.C., on Aug. 16, at 7:30 p.m. The

following morning he’ll be at the Sheraton Raleigh Capitol Center Hotel for a Financial Power Breakfast at 9 a.m. Tickets are $25. For information call Abundant Life Cathedral at 1-800-722-7113. Dr. Montgomery will take the crusade to Atlanta on Nov. 8 at 285 Andrew Young International Blvd. NW., Atlanta at 7:30 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.
