The Indianapolis Recorder was recently recognized with the Indianapolis Private Industry Council (IPIC) Advisor Award at IPIC’s Annual Luncheon. The award Is given to a media outlet that has made exceptional effort in educating the public.' Pictured left to right are: Shannon Williams, assistant editor of the Recorder, Kelly D. The Indianapolis Recorder was among those honored at the Indianapolis Private Industry Council’s annual luncheon on May 16. The Indianapolis Recorder was awarded the IPIC Advisor Award for exceptional effort in educating the public through coverage of workforce development issues. Other award winners included the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, River Valley Resources, Diaries Schwab and the Indianapolis Housing Agency. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office and River Val-

ley Resources were awarded the IPIC Advocate Award for their collaborative work with the IndyParent Program. The IndyParent Program strengthens families by helping non-custodial parents access fulltime jobs to share in the responsibility of the well being of their children. Additionally, the IPIC Agenda-Setter Award was awarded to Charles Schwab and the Indianapolis Housing Agency for the creation and execution of financial clubs for children at public housing sites.

In a league of their own: These outstanding young men were honored during the Kappa League’s sixth annual Awards and Recognition Dinner. The Kappa League is a peer mentoring program developed by Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity to teach high school males leadership and organization skills, (all photos/C.
