A PASTORAL STATEMENT OF CONCERN

As Church Leaders in the Greater Indianapolis Area, we share the pain and sorrow of our nation, especially the pain and sorrow of those who experience grief and bereavement as a result of the terrorists attacks on September 11,2001. We deplore the cruelty of those actions and join in a call that the perpetrators of those acts be brought to justice. We urge people of faith and all people of good will in our area not to allow this terror to turn us away from being the people God has called us to be. We especially encourage everyone to work for the safety and security of those who may share national origin, ethnicity or religion with whoever attacked us. Let us respond to the events of September 11,2001, not with hatred or violence but by rededicating ourselves to global peace and human dignity.
