(NAPSA) — Whether you're into high tech or high fashion, the variety of watches available today is truly exciting. These watch trends will keep you on time and in style. For the fashionista. the big news is color. With dials and straps in sherbet pink, fire engine red, rich blue, and mossy green, these watches are feminine and fresh as well as functional. Elizabeth Florence, spokesperson for the Jewelry Information Center, says, "Color is a wonderful way toexpressone’s individuality. Colorful watch straps are available in virtually every material from plastic to crocodile. There are also lovely watch faces in iridescent mother of pearl and green chrysoprase and elegant watch bezels accented with colored gemstones such as sapphires." For the high tech type, there are watches that would make James Bond and Dick Tracy jealous. Casio offers the world’s first wrist-type wearable camera, which stores up to 100 images. You can view them instantly and delete the ones you don't want. Spoon (by Seiko) offers the Secret Agent Man, which stores up to 100 memos (e-mail addresses, phone numbers, Web sites, etc.). It comes with over 45 pre-programmed greetings and proverbs and four daily alarms. Tag Heuer, official timekeeper of the Formula One car race, recently introduced the Kirium Ti5

chronograph, which features parts made of the same materials as a Formula One race car—a titanium bezel and a vulcanized rubber strap. For scuba divers. Swatch offers the Iropy Scuba 2000 Collection, watches which are water resistant to a depth of 200 meters, shockproof and quartz precise. For the stylish small fry. Timex Kids offers watches with straps treated with Scotchgard fabric protectant to resist dirt and stains. No matter what watch you want, heed these hints. • Shop at a well-established professional jeweler or authorized watch dealer, who will offer not only trustworthy service the day of your purchase, but who will follow through on any service or repair needs that may arise. • Be sure to ask about the return and trade-up policies as well as the warrantee. Get a written description of the watch you are purchasing, and ask for the original packaging. • When buying a karat gold watch, always look for the karat mark, such as 14K or 18K, along with the manufacturer's trademark. Look for "Plat" or “Pt950” to ensure the highest purity level of platinum watches. Dear Gwendolyn: On my last doctor's visit, testing showed that my baby is a girl. My husband acted excited while at the hospital, but when he came home his attitude was different. At first I thought it was only my imagination. However, when my mother came to visit, she also noticed his strange behavior. Weeks ago I had asked him to paint the baby’s room. To date, he has made no effort to do so. I just thought he wanted a child. I never figured he was that set on having a boy. Gwendolyn, how can I get him back into the high spirit of awaiting the arrival of our precious little baby? Jill Dear Jill: You do have a problem and a most serious one. Being pregnant is a mental and definitely a physical adjustment. I want you to understand that you will only be able to give thought to your husband's problem briefly. Childbirth can go good or not good. Therefore, center your attention on yourself and less on your husband's attitude change at this time. Many women who go through several pregnancies have to experience ahusband's disappointment of not having a son. And often times, each pregnancy resulted in

Ask Gwen being a girl child. Most men later realize that a child is a blessing — girl or boy. It doesn't matter. Be prepared to see many mood swings in your husband's behavior. Let me tell you this: The tests are not always 100 percent predictable. When it comes to painting the room, you may want to choose a neutral color such as white or beige. Then after the birth, if the prediction of a girl proved correct, put up a pink border around the ceiling, pink curtains or whatever girlish colors you and your husband desire. If your husband does not paint soon, pay someone else to do it. Jill, I believe your marriage will be fine. But, if for some reason your husband makes a permanent change in attitude, go on w ith your life. Be happy and proud of being a mother. The sex of a baby should not matter. The child's development should be the parents' top concern. Think about it. Will it become a murderer or a thief, or will itgrowupand becomeawarmhearted child that will respect and love you ... always? Bring Gwendolyn Baines to your city.
