Rayvon’s new song ‘2-Way’ sounds like a sure winner

THE SCOOP

By RICARDO HAZELL Electronic Urban Report Ray von has a single that'll be getting a lot ot burn in the coming fall months ofchill. Nobody wants to be alone when the leaves start changing color and falling. Rayvon is doing his part to help folks connect now so they won't be awantin’ come Christmas time. The song is called "2-Way" and his vocals are accompanied by a catchy-bouncing track. If you're going to have a song put you on the map, this is a pretty good first attempt. The ditty features Shaggy and RikRok as well. Can you say hit? "It's called '2-way.' The song is about two people corresponding on a personal level. The 2-way is made for business, but every once in a while you gotta get your groove on ... on a personal level. It's on some social stuff," said Rayvon with a laugh.

Rayvon "The song is featuring Shaggy and RikRok. Shaggy and I have been doing things together for about 10 years now. We were both in the studio to do different songs and ended up doing one together." Hold up! Don't get your face all twisted up and say "I ain't never heard o' know Ray von before this year.” The underground music scene has yielded several hits to Shaggy and Rayvon.

“It's history after that." said Rayvon of his and Shaggy’s early ,successes. "We've had hits like 'Big Up,' which was one of our underground hit reggae songs. He got the deal with Virgin and we put out 'Nice and Lovely.' Right now with the current smash Angel' it’s time for my thing." And his thing is to burst on to the scene and shine as a mainstream success. A feat that took Shaggy over 10 years to accomplish. But times have changed, Ray von's success may come w ith more ease. "I had something come out before,” said Rayvon. “I had an album out on Virgin called Hear My Cry.’ I did work with Funkmaster Flex on a track called 'No Guns, No Murder’ and on a song called 'Pretty,' which was something for the ladies cause w e like to give it up for them every now and then." To describe Rayvon’s performance style in a word is something that even a master wordsmith would be hard pressed to do. His

reggae foots and hip-hop status are both evident in his singing style. "I'm based in New York. My family and I moved there from the islands." said Rayvon. “I’ve been here (in the United States) since the beginningsofhip-hop. My style is a combination of hip-hop and reggae style. With me, I consider myself an entertainer. I have my own artistic qualities. I used to DJ, with my own little crew back in New York. I play the guitar and I went to school to play the bass guitar and I sing. It's all about the music to me. As long as I got people's heads bopping I’m all smiles." The track for "2-way" was created by Dave Kelly, who also has a lot of tracks on Rayvon’s upcoming album. If you're thinking that Rayvon's motherdidn't name him Rayvon. you're partly right. His real name is a comical Bruce Brewster, but his coming stardom will be no joke. Ray von’s“2-way” is alfeady enjoying success and airplay nationwide.

Last week resurgent rapper Eric Sermon was involved in an auto accident and is in critical, but stable condition. The accident occurred as Sermon was returning from a video shoot in upstate New York, according to a J Records publicist. The 32-year-old Sermon suffered broken bones and internal bleeding. ***** Somewhere, if you believe his public confessions about always loving her, your boy Puffy er, P. Diddy, er whoever, must be crying his po’ eyes out. Yep, the love he lost, Jennifer “J.Lo” Lopez, done gone and got hitched. Lopez, 31, and Puffy's replacement, some cat named Chris Judd, 32, were married Saturday in the Los Angeles suburb of Calabasas. According to reports, Lopez’ manager, Benny Medina, was best man, confirmed J.Lo’s publicist Alan Nierob. Interestingly, Medina used to be a top exec at Puffy's Bad Boy Records a while back. But that's neither here nor there, huh? You wanna know what La Lopez

wore, don’t you? Well, she wore an off-white la£e dress, with plunging neckline atjd low-cut back, that was designed and created by Valentino.
