back unless you’re bent over,” said Rogers “We need to stand up like men. the way we did in the I %()s.” Rogers was a sanitation worker when in l%8, he helped organize the Memphis strike attracting the attention of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "We were thrilled to have his assistance then. He was willing to help those of us who were at the bottom. Wedon’t have leaders like him today. It really demonstrated what kind of man Dr. King was,”

he said. Local president. Steven Quick was among the Indianapolis workers who joined Rogers for the Richmond commemorative march and rally. Commenting on the Richmond situation. Quick said. “They have a lot of problems including various safety issues, so we just want do whatever we can to lend our support and encourage them."
