‘Breakfast with the Boyz’

Indianapolis Weed A Seed hosted a breakfast and workshops last Saturday morning at Christamore House. Discussion items included youth and conflict resolutions and school violence. Hoosier Hot 96 celebrates another year in the Circle City

Hoosier Hot 96 celebrated its eighth anniversary at Block Party on the city’s Northside. The birthday bash included local and national celebrity guests, as well as the station’s on air personalities. The party was jammed with Hoosier 96 listeners who wanted to commemorate this milestone with their favorite station. Among the well wishers were M.C. Friction, Colts cheerleaders Gwen Tyler, Denae Ball and Jennifer Track as well as Dale Davis of the Indiana

Also at the celebration was Dreamworks new female rap artist Sole*, who’s currently enjoying the success of her single “4,5,6“featuring J.T. Money and Kandi of the group Xscape. Sole’ had a great time with her fans, indulging many with hugs and photographs. She showed her appreciation for those who stood in the long lines awaiting her arrival by coming out earlier than scheduled and staying longer in an attempt to make sure everyone had a chance to get an autograph. Sole’ is very warm and friendly, quite different from her brash rap per-

sona.

In between signings, Crazy Bill Shirk thrilled the crowd with another one of his death defying stunts. He was hoisted upside down into the rafters where he had only seconds to free himself from a straight jacket. The Guinness Book of World Records for the stunt was said to be six seconds. Shirk said that this is one of the only records he has yet to achieve. Shirk also t said that he is one of only a few that can escape a straight jacket in less than 10 seconds. Crazy Bill had luck and skill on his side as he set an unofficial new record of 3.7 seconds. The whole stunt was caught on tape by a WAV 33 camera crew. Other activities included an au-

She also said that after hosting the event four consecutive years at Block Party it’s still an adventure pulling such an exciting event together.
