Donnie McClurkin’s 19% selftitled album recently was certifled gold with sales of more than 500,000 units. The album brought McClurkinaGrammy nomination for best contemporary soul album as well as seven Stellar Award nominations including best male vocalist and best male contemporary vocalist. The album boasts the hit songs, “Speak to My Heart,” “Jesus at the Mention of Your Name” and “Stand.” In other news, McClurkin will be co-hosting the 15th Annual Stellar Awards along with Vickie Winans and Dr. Bobby Jones. It will be the first time that the awards show is hosted exclusively by gospel artists, rather than movie and TV stars. The show will be taped at the Atlanta Civic Center on Jan. 8, 2000. Among those receiving multiple nominations this year are Richard Smallwood with nine, Kirk Franklin with eight, Vickie Winans with seven and Dottie Peoples with six. Performances

are scheduled from Kirk Franklin, Richard Smallwood, Mighty Clouds of Joy, Yolanda Adams and the Mississippi Mass Choir. The two-hour television special will air nationwide from Jan. 14 - Feb. 6. The show will be syndicated in 125 markets including Chicago, New York, Detroit, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Washington D.C., Baltimore, Houston, Dallas, Cleveland, Miami, Shreveport and Charlotte. Tri-City gets new home EMI Gospel recently announced that the Tri-City Singers have signed an exclusive recording agreement with the Nashvillebased label.
