Mr. Lawrence E. Johnson Sr. “Boots” Mr. Lawrence E. Johnson Sr. “Boots”, 74, Indianapolis, died July 23 at Indiana University Hospital. He had been employed as a mechanic for Western Electric, retiring in 1981 with 29 1/2 years. Mr. Johnson was a member of Pleasant Union Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He is survived by his wife, Bertha (Yeakie) Johnson; one son, Lawrence Evert Johnson Jr.; two daughters, Freda Johnson and Anne Marie Williams; ten grandchildren; IS great-grand-children; three great-great-grand-children; mother, Freda (Johnson) Cosby; six brothers, Herbert Cosby, Clarence Cosby, Elmer Cosby, Donald Cosby, David Cosby and Carlton Cosby; two sisters, Davidteen Watson and Wanda Lacy.
Mr. Samuel O. Waters Mr. Samuel O. Waters, 90, Indianapolis, died July 22 at his home. He had worked in environmental services for Eli Lilly & Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1972; previously he worked as a baker for eight years for the West Baker and 10 years for Omar Bakery. Mr. Waters was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon and elder. He is survived by six daughters, Jacqueline M. Bunch, Sandra R. Brown, Kathleen E. Waters, Deborah V. Martin, Linda L. Waters, and Andrea D. Walker; three sons, Richard F. Waters, Ronald R. Waters and Stephen L. Waters; 16 grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren.
Ms. Esther Marie Whorton Ms. Esther Marie Whorton, 42, Indianapolis, died August 3 at Community Hospital-East. She had worked as a clerk for the United States Post Office for 20 years. She is survived by two sons, Michael H. Whorton and Jordan A. Mahone: mother, Elfa Whorton; father^ Isaac y*** Mcptairtg; two Whorton arid Sean Whorton; dne sister, Robin Andrews; grandmother, Esther B. Whorton." • '
Miss Katina L. Lott Miss Katina L. Lott, 25, Indianapolis, died July 29. She was currently employed as acomputertechnician for M.I.R.C. Computer Lab at Indiana University, Purdue University at Indianapolis; previously she was a research assistant for Indiana University Department of Medicine for two and Ml years. She is survived by her mother, Kathy Esters Lott; one brother, John E. Lott; grandfather. Jack F. Esters.
Mrs. Clara Taylor Van Cleave Mrs. Clara Taylor Van Cleave, 101, Indianapolis, died July 19. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Van Cleave was a member of Mount Zion Apostolic Church. She is survived by * her children, John W. Ivory, Howard, Albert Lee Van Cleave, Odessa Owens, Nancy Graves; 75 grandchildren; eight great-grand-children; four great-great-grand- * children.
