Home Team-A-Rama Kendra Davis, wife of Indiana Pacer Antonio Davis and Sally Gardocki, wife of Indianapolis Colt Chris Gardocki, will be the guest speakers at the Home-A-Rama celebrity luncheon from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21 at the Greystone Development in Marion County’s Franklin Township, 5800Shelbyville Road. As an added bonus, prizes will be raffled off including a pair of tickets to that evening’s Indianapolis Colts/Detroit Lions pre-season game at the RCA Dome. Castleton and CCI help area kids Hundreds of children will be able to go back to school with the school supplies they need as part of a partnership between the Community Centers of Indianapolis, Castleton Square Mall and WZPL Radio. The Castleton Square Mall Learning Tree program kicked off recently when the Learning Tree was unveiled at the Castleton Square Mall Customer Service Center located in center court. Through Aug. 24, tfye tree will display hundreds of bright red apple cut-outs bearing the names of kids who need school supplies. Children from the Community Centers of Indianapolis have signed each apple with three school supplies they need. Anyone who wishes to participate in The Learning Tree Program should stop by Castleton Square Mall and pick up an apple from die tree. The supplies listed on the child’s apple should be returned to die mall’s Customer Service Center by Aug. 24 so CCI has time to deliver the donations in time for the first day of school.

Jazz in the Afternoon Springfield Health Care Center recently hosted “Jazz in the Afternoon.” This special event presented several jazz greats: Larry Ridley on bass, Carl Hines on keyboards, Larry Clark on drums and Jimmy Coe on the saxophone. Ridley performed a special tribute for his father who is a resident of Springfield, marking the end of their family reunion. Guests included, Ridley’s immediate and extended family, Springfield volunteers, the Zoinines Gub and many residents’ families and friends.
