REMONUS

“There may have been more talent on this floor then ever,” Irish coach Pete Berg said following the game. “We are fortunate to be the ones still standing. We are just a bunch of city boys that like to play basketball and are happy to be representing Indianapolis in the SemiState.” In the championship game the Panthers came out roaring, taking an early lead behind a tenacious defensive effort North Central forced early turnovers which created easy transition opportunities on the offensive end. After the halftime break Cathedral regrouped and picked up their defensive intensity. The Irish handled the ball better and they were able to slow down the Panther transition game. “We controlled the tempo early, making it a fullcourt game and we were winning,” North Central coach Doug Mitchell said after the game. “In the second half, they turned it into a half court game and they were winning.” During the first half North Central sizzled hitting 60 percent of their shots, only to cool of in the second half were they shot 41 percent. On the other end the Irish got better with time, heating up the bucket with 58 percent of their shots in the second half after hitting only 39 percent of their first half attempts.

He is so efficient when the ball in his hands good things happen for them.” When evaluating their chances in this Saturdays Semi-State, Berg said their defensive performance will be their measuring stick of success, seeing how all of the other three teams participating are rated in the Top 10 in the state offensively. “Someone better be ready to play diem or they will win it all.
