State transportation chief paves scholarship roads

Although busy as Indiana Department of Transportation commissioner, Stan C. Smith finds time for community

activities.

He is chairman of the Miss Coca-Cola Circle City Classic Princess Coronation, which provides scholarships to qualified applicants. This year's coronation was held Sunday at the Indiana Roof Ballroom.

Prior to becoming commissioner, Smith was deputy commissioner of INDOT's Office of Internal Operations. He supervised several divisions

which he is involved in the development of the school's 10-year plan. He is a member of the board of Zion Hope Christian School. Smith and his wife Rosie are the parents of two daughters and a son.
