Charles Williams is not replacing Rev. Brown
It has been quite a while since I heard the kind of entertainment that I enjoyed last Friday at the all new and ultra-modem Walker Casino Jazz on the Avenue, with the sounds of Kenny Dodson and his quintet. He really had something to say to a packed, standing room only crowd. His renditions of the oldies t»it goodies brought backalot of memories to some of the crowd that was in attendance, and did they have fun. Just let me say diis, when you see that Kenny Dodson is playing somewhere, then you can bet that you will get more than your money’s worth of pure entertainment. I hear he is going to play for the Lockefidd Civic Organization’s Affair on November 10th. If this is tme then you have to be there to get real entertainment at its best ■ ij. ' m Deadline
As rumors fly so does the truth. It was told me that Rev. Charles Williams had been sought to replace Rev. Andrew Brown at St. John’s Missionary B aptist Church, after he resigned, wMch was just a rumor. Truth: ‘T have not been approached by anyone from die church to become the fulltime pastor of St John’s,” said Rev. Willi amsinatelephone interview. Oh well, rumors will persist, but I will see that you get the troth.
Ihave been gettingalot of good reports on Duane Brown, the Mack candidate who is seeking a major state office, and the reports are favoraMe. Brown, who is seeking the position of clerk of the Supreme and Appellate Courts, is gaining mi Ms Republican opponent Dan Hiser who is our current office holder and a respected one. This could turn out to be a real bam
burner. Both men are MgMy qualified, and I would hate to see either one of them lose, but one must. Best to both of you. *** Get ready for this: Next week I will be picking the state candidates whom I feel will win, and the reason for the winner being selected by the voters of Indiana. A brief background will accompany my choices. The following week I will focus on races in Marion County. So you have alottolook forward to in
the coming weeks. You have already heard from foe Swami and it is my turn to pick the winners and see how close I come to matching the Swami’s predictions. *** I know at times it's hard to give credit where it's due. But fois time I think a lot of credit is due to William Bennett, a precinct committeeman in the Sixth Ward, who single -handedly registered more than 1,100 people to vote. Registering that many people is a feat that I don't think has been performed by anyone also. Democrat or Republican. A tip of the hat from Time for Talk to William Bennett
