U of I kicks off annual supper The University of Indianapolis will hosts its annual Alumni Chili Supper and “Pack the House Night” from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25. Children under six will be admitted free as well as any alumni wearing a U of I shirt or jacket. The University of Indianapolis men’s and women’s basketball teams will lake on the University of Southern Indiana with the women’s game beginning at 5:15 p.m. and the men’s game at 7:30 p.m. For more information call the alumni office at 788-3295.

Group sponsors Black History Tea Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Iota Zeta Chapter’s Archonetie and Amicette youth groups will sponsor a “Young Black Women in Careers” seminar for Black History Month. LEE /. RAINEY SR., of Indianapolis, celebrated his 75th surprise brithday party on Jan. 21. His party was given by his eight children: Delorise, Brenda, Lee Jr., Shirley, Melvin, Angela, Clyde and Wayne. They presented him with gifts and 75 one-dollar bills. Rainey and his wife, Leona have been married for 53 years. They have seven grandchildren who also shared his celebration, along with his brothers, nieces, nephews and friends. Rainey has been retired for ten years from Citizens Gas and Coke Utility Co.

School accepts nominations

Southport High School is accepting nominations for the 1989 Outstanding Alumnus award to be presented at commencement ceremonies at 3 p.m. June 3. The award honors a living person who graduated from SHS at least 25 years ago (1964 or before). Letters of recommendation should be sent to Larry Hensley-

Marshchand, assistant principal, by March 15 at Southport High School, 971 E. Banta Road, Indianapolis, Ind.46227. A letter should include information about the nominee, such as year of graduation, family, academic achievements, community and church service, youth work, profes-

sional achievements and prior honors and awards. A large plaque in the school’s main lobby will bear the picture and name of this year’s honoree along, with the five previous winners. Other members of the selection committee are Susan Allman, member of the Metropolitan School
