Before the participants assemble and prepare for competition Sunday, there will be a breakfast for the National Association of Fashion and Accessory Designers (NAFAD). Noted designer Alpha Blackburn will be the guest speaker for the

NAFAD Breakfast.

NAFAD is a nationally established organization, founded by Jeanetta Welch Brown, to uplift young professionals in the field of fashion

and accessory design.

The First Annual Silk Awards is

Silk Awards produer Marva G. Ballard said it is for those designers that the Silk Awards exist. The program exists for several reasons such as: to make consumers aware of what new designers have to offer, to allow these designers to make fashion statements nation-wide, to help them make contact with hundreds of potential buyers, and to salute their efforts and aid them in the fulfillment of their dreams.

The Bennett College Students of Indianapolis hosted an egg nog sip for prospective students Dec. 22 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry

Woods.

Slides showing classrooms, labs, and campus life were presented and the prospective^ students were then invitged to ask questions and enjoy the hospitality of the Indianapolis “Bennett Belles.’’ Bennett College is a private fouryear liberal arts school for women, located in Greensboro, N.C. It is a part of a consortium of schools including North Carolina AftT University, University of Greensboro, and the University of North Carolina. The NCA & T campus is a bloack from the Bennett campus with an enrollment of over 10,000 students. That’s where “the boys are.” Bennett College is a UNCF member school and a member of the Indianapolis Black Alumni Council. Indianapolis alumni include Mrs. Gloria Dozier, Mrs. Carolyn Hart, Mrs. Jean Height, Mrs. Leslie Hollingsworth, Mrs. Marjorie Shields, Mrs. Sharon Smith, Dr. LaVonne Washington, and Mrs. Helen Whitelowe. There are 19 students currently enrolled at Bennett College from Indianapolis. The Bennett College Choir will be in concert at Witherspoon Presbyterian Church March 12. Any interested students can contact any of the previously mentioned alumni or Mrs. Ruth Woods. Two students from Indianapolis, Patricia Lewis and Janice Smith, are to be congratulated for making the national dean’s list pictorial edition.
