Don’t be tempted to make a quick and cheap fix by simply tightening the bolts that hold down the valve cover. You could break the bolts off completely, or additional pressure on the gasket could destroy its sealing qualities and make the leak
worse.
Repair of some leaks in the cooling system can be delayed. If you have a small leak in the radiator, be sure to keep an eye on the level of coolant inside. A leak around n radiator hose connection might mean only that the damp holding it to the radiator, or to the engine, is loose. But it might also mean that the hose is cracked. A cracked or brittle hose should be replaced as soon as possible because it can break apart completely without warning and may leave you stranded with an overheated engine. And remember that when checking for cracks, be careful not to squeeze the hose while the engine is hot. To avoid problems, have the radiator flushed and the hoses checked every two years or as recommended by
your car owner's manual.
Even if you do not suspect a leak, check all vehicle fluids regularly.

Automatic transmissions, for instance, can lose a critical <unount of fluid from worn seals or gaskets before you notice any symptoms while driving. A transmission leak should be repaired immediately. Leaks in the drive axle seals can do a lot of damage quickly. The oil that lubricates the differential can leak onto the breaks, ruining the linings and severely affecting your car’s ability to stop. (Consider a

The Indianapolis Black Republican Council hosted an installation ceremony for new officers Wednesday, April 24, at St. Peter Claver Center, 3110 Sutherland. The IBRC represents a new alignment of black Republicans in the Marion County area. It was established to create more minority involvement in the local political process. Larry Whitney, chairman of the organization, said, “We have finally reached a stage in the political process where black people should act collectively, be involved, but demonstrate to local and state officials that black people are willing to be supportive • of Republican ideas and policies. “For far too long, we have ‘been lead over the cliff in following Democratic party leaders. It is simply time to inarch to a different political drummer.” Boasting a strong membenhip of Marion County black Republicans, IBRC will initiate its membenhip dnve, educational programsf and its election day volunteers programs over the next six months.

of $500 or more.
One way to check for various leaks is to place newspapers or a large piece of cardboard underneath the car while it is parked overnight and check the next morning to see whether you have a leak, where its general whereabouts are and how

Shocks and tires. It's hard to notice that your car’s shock absorbers are wearing out because the process is generally gradual. When the car begins swaying on turns or tends to dip when you step on the brakes, the shocks have worn to the point of being dangerous and should be replaced. Worn shocks can cause the tires tp dance oddly on the road and contribute to fast and uneven tire wear. Check your tire tread occasionally. If the center part of the
