her professional singing career by debuting with the Franklin Carter Trio in Gary, Indiana. During the same year, she became a featured artist with the Count Fisher combo. The group became the house-band here at the Ferguson Hotel. In the mid-1950s, the young voca

gregation and invaded Cleveland. where she was a headliner at both, the Ebony Show lounge and the Town Casino.
While in the Ohio city, won
