Cavern hits meeting with Sovfanbi

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NNPA) The 17-member CongressionaJ Black Caucus warned this week that the Reagan Administration's meeting with Angola guerrilia leader Jonas Savimbia “risks alienating the increasingly economically and strategically important nations of Africa.” In a statement issued by U. S. Rep. William H. Gray. Ill ID-PA.), vice chairman of its Foreign Affairs Task Force, and U. S. Rep. Walter E.

Fauntroy. (D-D.C.l, chairman of the Caucus, the members stated: “The Congressional Black Caucus finds it appalling that officials of the Administration met with Jonas Savimbia, leader of the Guerrilla movement UNITA in Angola, while it has on numerous occasions refused to meet with officials of legitimate and recognized governments. the refusal to meet with Foreign Minister of Grenada, Unison Whiteman, dur-

ing his November 17-22, 1961, visit being a prime example. “In spite of the fact that the government of Angola enjoys widespread popular support at home and nearly total recognition by the international community, induding our Western allies, the United States stands nearly alone in withholding diplomatic recognition of Angola. “The United States' embrace of Savimbi, whose movement is clearly aimed at destabilizing the established angolan government in connection with > South Africa, is even more threatening in light of the Administration’s efforts to repeal the Clack Amendment, which prohibits covert or other assistance that would promote military or paramilitary operations directed at Angola without the authorization of Congress. “The Caucus warns the Administration that these actions raise the risk of alienating the

increasingly economically and strategically important nations of Africa and signaling to Third World countries that they must look elsewhere for aid in the quest for self determination.” Gray, who served on the House Subcommittee on Foreign Operations, stated: “The Reagan Administration's simultaneous rebuff of Angolan overtures for better relations, its failure to condemn South Africa’s invasion of Angola, and this meeting with South Africa backed Savimbi. demonstrates an appalling appeasement policy with racism." Fauntroy stated, “The fact that there are Cuban advisors in Angola should come as no surprise to us. Whenever there has been a lack of U. S. support and even hostility to the legitimate aspirations of oppressed people, a vacuum has been created which others have been happy to fill. -

Hints For Homemakers/Inez Kaiser Rings around the collar nose horrible problem

As the holidays draw near, most of us have high hopes of being together with family and friends, exchanging gifts, feeling the love and joy of the season. Some lonely people, or families barely making ends meet, come to The Salvation Army at Christmastime. The Army provides dinners, companionship, perhaps toys or warm clothing—and sometimes it helps the drifter or the troubled family to make a new start in life. Thanks to your support, The Salvation Army offers year-round programs to reach out to youngsters, families, oldsters; to the alcoholic, discharged prisoner, teenage runaway; to those in institutions and those who have no home at alt. By giving to The Salvation Army, you give joy to a world that greatly needs it. SHARING IS CARING

DEAR INEZ: 1 have great difficulty getting my laundry dean, especially those messy rings around the collars of my blouses and my husband's shirts. I have tried all types of powders and sprays, but none of them does the job. The rings are still there and the clothes remain dingy. Help! —DISGUSTED HOMEMAKER DEAR DISGUSTED HOMEMAKER: Your problem is shared by many other women and even the men who do their laundry—and fortunately there’s a simple solution. The solution is a liquid laundry detergent called WISK which I’ve been recommending for years. First off, women especially praise WISK for removing rings around the collar—from women’s blouses as well as men’s shirts. But WISK is also excellent for the whole wash, not just for spots and stains. Once you try it, you will understand why WISK is the No. 1 heavy-duty liquid laundry detergent. In fact, it was the first product of its kind. So buy a bottle of WISK. Try it and you will immediately see the results. Because it is a liquid, WISK dissolves and starts to work as soon as you pour it in the water. To remove ring around the collar, just moisten the soiled area and pour tome WISK on it. Rub lightly and put the garment in the washing machine with the rest of your laundry. Then pour the remainder of the recommended amount of WISK in the water. WISK works effectively in all water temperatures—hot, warm or cold. It also works better than sprays or powders. What more could you ask of a laundry detergent? WISK gets ring around the collar and your whole wash clean! GREAT TASTE FOR LESS MONEY MORE COOKING IS probably done in December than any other month of the year. It's also the time, with the coat of everything so much higher, when we all want to get the heat buys and quality for our money. One sure way to cut costa and retain good taafo is to use IMPERIAL margarine.

tm

Imperial

IMPERIAL is far less expensive than butter, and yet tastes light and swept—like the “high-

priced’* spread.

In fact, IMPERIAL margarine tastes so

much like butter that many people cannot tell

the difference.

You can use IMPERIAL in all of your favorite recipes — to sea-

son vegetables or as a y spread on hot breads or 11137937111© ^ rolls. The great taste of - IMPERIAL can be used for all your cookingi baking and table-spread needs. : In these days of high inflation, you cannot find a better value for your money. So enjoy the superior taste of IMPERIAL, which w4 in the Kaiser household call "the butter of

margarines.'*

The superior taste of IMPERIAL is its crowning quality. It adds a pleasing flavor tq whatever you eat. ^
