Me. Mr. Wallace has proposed the justification of a local long distance rate system that would do similar damage to the small business segment of our economy. This is wrong and Larry Wallace should leave the task of justifying this rate increase system to the phone companies. Their dollars, not public dollars, should be spent studying this system. Larry Wallace must be stopped in his effort to impose long distance phone rates on local phone service in Indiana. Governor Orr in the Indianapolis News, December 4, 1961 conceded that the toll-call approach could be viewed as “gouging”, but said it’s appropriate for the Public Service Commission to try to assess the impact of the billing system requested-last year by Indiana Bell Telephone Company.
