family reunion that stays in a class by itself. There are special particulars, too. as this congenial. motherly Indy explains. “When we first suited having the celebration, there were four of us with birthdays in November. Now. there are three more." This gives just a sampling of what the wholesome, funfoving reunion was all about last Saturday in Planner House. Generations of the Murphy Family were on hand to partake of the best of soul food, enjoy music to hearts’ content and just revel in being around each
other.
When she first hit upon the idea of the gigantic birthday celebration, financing was somewhat of the proWem for Mrs. Murphy, with her willing to shoulder most of the load. In latter years, die hit upon the idea of raffling off a television set. later expanding it to two. This year, funds were raised by raffling the two sets plus three radios. “That helped a lot." she says.

INDIANA RESIDENTIAL CONSERVATION SERVICE PROGRAM Indianapolis Power & Light Company, in accordance with the National Energy Conservation Policy Act, is offering to those eligible customers who desire it a home energy audit. The charge is $15.00 and gives specific recommendations on how to save energy. If you use natural gas to heat your home, you should apply to your natural gas supplier for your RCS audit.
How Can This Survey Save You Energy? Gone are the days of surplus energy resources and wasteful consumption. Homes, then, were built without adequate insulation and other energy savers. Today saving energy means saving money. Many residents have already taken serious steps to save energy . without losing comfort. Now you can join those energy-saving residents with this Residential Conservation Service Program. Under this program, Indianapolis Power & Light Company will send an energy specialist to your home for an in-depth energy survey, which includes recommendations of what is needed and help in finding materials and people to put your plans to work, if needed. What Is The Indiana Residential Conservation Service Program? As your local electric utility, Indianapolis Power & Light Company, along with other major energy distributors statewide, offers you a complete home energy survey and analysis, and a full range of services. The program's purpose is to encourage installation of proven energy conservation measures in existing residences of our customers. The program, established by the National Energy Conservation Policy Act, is administered nationally by the U.S. Department of Energy. The Division of Energy Policy of the Indiana Department of Commerce manages the local program, to assure quality control. What Exactly Do The Survey And Analysis Include? Our energy specialist will check your home's insulation levels, furnace, hot water heater, and many other things to determine where improvements may be needed. The survey takes 2-4 hours for complete analysis. Your discussion with the energy specialist will also be helpful for needed informarion. You may want to make-notes of points for discussion before your survey. When the energy specialist has completed the measurements and evaluation phase, you'll be given a full written report, including personalized recommendations for your consideration. There is no further obligation on your part. You decide the conservation measures and practices you wish to take. Will The Energy Specialist 1 Sell Needed Materials? Definitely not. The energy specialist has only one purpose: to carefully survey your home in order to give you facts and recommendations on ways to save energy. He or she is certified by the State and is required to identify him or herself by showing a state-issued ID card. He or she is only a consultant, at your home by your request. Services include an estimate of your potential savings and information about other Indiana Residential Conservation Program services. They may suggest proven ideas, tips, and technical advice on ways to save energy and money.
Does My Income Affect My Eligibility To Receive This Service? The survey and analysis, along with full Indiana Residential Conservation Service Program benefits, are available to most residential customers of Indianapolis Power & Light Company and to most residential customers of other major energy distributors in Indiana. You are eligible if you own or occupy a home in Indiana, including single family homes, doubles, mobile homes and apartments or townhouses with four or less living units in the same t building. Since a major part of the energy survey cost is subsidized, eligible customers can receive only one energy survey for each eligible residential building address. However, if you move to another home served by a major utility, contact their customer service office to see if they provide the RCSP service. If so, you may request another survey. Do I Have A Choice Of Who Provides My Survey? Should you receive more than one program announcement and you heat your home with natural gas, you should request your energy survey from the natural gas utility. However, if you heat your home with electricity, oil, propane or other energy systems, you should request your survey from Indianapolis Power & Light Company. RCS Program Customer Benefits 1. First, you'll likely reduce energy use in your home. And that means keeping more of your hard-earned dollars. 2. As part of your survey and analysis, you'll be given a list of state-approved contractors, suppliers, and lenders who can help provide approved home conservation measures. This will aid you in borrowing money, buying materials, and hiring installation work. All businesses listed have met strict requirements appropriate to their particular field. The list is also available free to all Indianapolis Power & Light residential customers at the Electric Building or by calling 261-8392. You are encouraged to use this approved list, even if you do not choose to have an energy survey in your home. 3. At your request, Indianapolis Power & Light Company will help you arrange for an installer or lender. Only state-approved master list agencies will be suggested in response to your request. This service is free and you do not need to request a survey to use this program feature. 4. Measures sold or installed by companies listed on the approved list carry a no-nonsense, oneyear warranty. These items must also conform to established Department of Energy safety and effectiveness standards. These standards are equivalent to, or greater than, product standards developed by nationally recognized organizations. 5. AH master list agencies have agreed to participate in a state-sponsored RCSP complaint system, a feature which helps insure your protection as a consumer. 6. Certain conservation measures installed by master list installers will receive a free state qualitycontrol inspection to insure you received a quality service. 7. For loans in connection with this program, IPL can provide a special loan repayment plan as a part of your utility biUing system, when approved by the master list lender.
8. The date of your scheduled audit will be determined by your billing district. RCSP Conservation Measures And Estimated Savings Program Conservation Measures.
