This choir of fifty mixed voices is well-known for its recording albums and versatile performances consisting of early European sacred literature as well as present-day contemporary styles and music of the Black religious experience. In addition, Mr. Clency served as organist and arranger for the late gospel singer, Mahalia Jackson, for a number of years until her demise in 1972. He served three years as Director of Music at Rev. Jesse Jackson’s Operation PUSH and in many Chicago area churches while teaching in the Chicago Public Schools. Mr. Clency has been quite active as a workshop clinician and lecturer of choral technique and performance in many churches and music con ventions. While leading the Music Department at Second Christ ian Church, Mr. Clency will be enrolled in the Graduate school at Indiana University, Bloom mgton. pursuing the Master of Music degree in Conducting. Dr. T. Garrott Benjamin, Jr. is the minister at Second Christian Church. Revival services be heir it Galilee B T.
