Positive Hypnosis. Inc., was formed to help smokers kick their habits through clinical hypnosis, as distinguished from the stage hypnosis seen at carnivals where participant's strong desire to stop smoking combine to eliminate the habit. The hypnosis based on relaxation, concentration and suggestion is done in groups and is a very mild procedure that does not involve going into a trance state. According to Dun Mannarino, as associate of Positive Hypnosis who will conduct the area clinics, once a person is relaxed “he can concentrate better and is then more open to suggestion.” "Hypnosis is used to help the participant identify himself as a non smoker, so he doesn’t even miss the cigarette." he said. “It simply doesn’t occur to him to reach for a cigarette, any more than it would to a person who has never smoked,” he added. Mannarino holds a master’s degree in human services and has been trained by the Ameri can Society of Clinical Hypno sis. Based on results obtained from clinics held in other cities, he claims 90 percent of those who experience hypnosis will get immediate results, and 60 to 70 percent experience lasting results over the long range. Sessions will be conducted each evening at 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. at the folk wing locations: Tuesday, September 11 at the Holiday Inn Southeast, 5120 Victory Drive. Wednesday, September 12 at the Ramada Inn Northwest, 3740 W. High School Road. Thursday, September 13 at the Sheraton East, 7701 E. 42nd Street. t A special “lunch hour" session will also be conducted on Thursday, September 13 at the Marott Hotel, 2625 N.
