Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo J. Watford, Sr. will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, July 15, with an open house. Mr. Watford and the former Marie Warren were married July 17, 1929 in Lafayette, Indiana. Mr. Watford was a teacher, a football coach and atheletic director of Crispus Attucks High School untill his retirement in 1958; then later he went on to become a trainer at Purdue University under the late Red Mackey, in Pinky Newells department, then retired again and came back to Indianapolis and Joined the St. Rita's faculty for a year, then retired again, he is now working with the Central Council on Aging. He has recieved numerous awards and citations. He recieved the Outstanding Catholic Layman Award from

our Lady of Fatima Council #3228. He is a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He was also entered into the Indiana Football Hall of fame. Mrs. Watford was a bookkeeper in the Marion County Treasurer's Office for fourteen years, then worked as a typist in the Marion County Prosecutor's Office for fourteen years, then worked three years in the General Library at Purdue University, then retired. Mr. and Mrs. Watford are the parents of Alonzo J. Watford, Jr., Barbara Zoe Torrence, Kathyrne Adele Booker, Peter A. Watford and Warren W. Watford, all of Indianapolis; 24 grandchildren and 31 great grand children. Open House at their home 2435 Wheeler Street from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
