RIPPED-OFF: Douglass Little League Baseball President Larry Dunville observes the park fence that was broken by looters over the weekend. Stolen were a model 8 tractor, team uniforms and equipment, food stock, and other Rems. [Recorder photo by Marcell Williams] Douglass baseball office looted, uniforms stolen

By MARCUS MIMS Team uniforms and several other items were stolen from the Douglas Little League Baseball organization last weekend forcing the organization to cancel all its remaining games if outside help is not

given.

According to Team President Larry Dunville, someone had taken a bolt cutter to get through the fence. Items taken from the organization included Yankees team uniforms and equipment, a model 8 tractor, field equipment, concession stand food stock, and several other items. “They had to have broken in late Friday night or early Saturday morning," said Dunville, “Whoever it was it had to be someone within the organization who knew the operation well; they knew the only way to get in was to climb the fence and cut the bolts on the

inside.”

Dunville added that he already has someone in mind who may have done it, but refused to disclose any names. Presently the organization along with police are hoping finger prints that were found will show some results. Public Relations Director D.B. Abernathy said unless the organization gets help from outside source “things are canceled for the rest of the

season.”

“Unless we get equipment to upkeep our diamond there is no way we can continue our season,” said Abernathy. He speculated that the person!s) responsible for the damage was someone who was trying to “get back at us, or someone who don’t want to see our program progress."

Douglas Little League has produced outstanding young baseball players. One of its most successful alumnus, Rodney Scott, went on to the major leagues. He is presently playing with the Chicago Cubs. Persons wishing to donate to the organization may do so bv calling Larry Dunville at 923-9031.
