Sponsors meet near season end It was a beautiful afternoon memory of beloved, deceased for the Recorder Women Spon- Recorder Women Sponsors.

Mrs. Paul A. Batties, the director of the Sponsors, praised all of the members of the organization for a job well done and for their fine spirit of cooperation which contributed to the success of The Easter Parade and all other efforts in behalf of the Recorder Chari-

ties, Inc.

The informative and dynamic speaker for this very stimulating meeting was Dr. Joseph Taylor, Dean of The Liberal Arts School at IUPUI, and was introduced by Mrs. Vivian Terry Moore. Mrs. Batties in behalf of the Sponsors, thanked him for accepting their invitation to speak at the meeting and extended a cordial welcome to other honored guests: Mrs. Mary Helen Dunn; Mrs. Hallie Carter, representing the National Council of Negro Women; Robert M. Turner, principal of Arlington High School; and Harry A. Radcliffe, former assistant superintendent of Indianapolis Public Schools.

Mrs. Jones, following a beautiful prayer given by her mother Mrs. Cordelia Smith, served a delicious and artistically catered luncheon which all of the members thoroughly enjoyed and greatly appre-

ciated.

After this delightful social hour, the chairman of the Sponsors, Mrs. Fred Perdue, called the meeting to order. The hostess was called upon to conduct the worship which was very inspirational. The business of the meeting consisted of an evaluation of the “Easter Parade” and an interesting and efficient report of the financial results of this project. The report was given by Mrs. Gladys Butler, the secretary. Proceeds from the Easter Parade are used to provide the annual $500 memorial scholarship honoring the

two programs The YWCA has scheduled two programs the first, to convene on Monday, will feature “death” as a topic; tht second program, planned to rur. four consecutive Tuesdays beginning this week, will discuss the “taking direction” in one’s life. As part of the Imago Series of the Woman’s Resource Center, there will be a “Discussion of Death and Dying as a Preparation for Living,” on Monday, April 24, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. This presentation will help one recognize symptoms of grief and discuss ways to deal with it. Jane Kleinhaus, R.N., M.S. of the Indiana University Hospitals Education Department, will be the group facilitator. Fee is Si.00 for nonmembers and free to members. For more information contact the YWCA at 299-2750. If we don’t know where we are going, we’ll probably end up some place else. In order to gain some direction, enroll in a mini-course, “Goal Setting and Life Planning” by the YWCA beginning April 25th and running for four consecutive Tuesdays, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. The fee is $10. Diane Razmic is the instructor and will lead the group into making new decisions and taking personal inventory.

President Starling James is at home now to recuperate from a siege of serious illness that necessitated his stay in St. Vincent Hospital. He expressed gratitude for every kind act he has received. Mrs. Susie Williams of Cleveland, Ohio, has returned home after a short visit in the home of Mr. James. She was called here due to his illness. **• The general meeting of the federation was held Monday evening with good attendance. Vice-president Chester Little presided. Board members Ms. Faira Pruirr and Ms. Thelma Pruitt, served the group a delectable repass after the adjournment instead of sponsoring a program. This was a pleasant surprise. *** Mrs. Simon Ried and Ms. Willora Morris called attention to the fact that they had just returned from a “much enjoyed” trip to the Passion Play with other travelers. They were among the sponsors of this trip and are also F.A.C. board members. Board member Mrs. Kath-

erine Flowers was very successful in the recent distribution of children’s clothing, an annual project, in the F.A.C. community. She had help from others on her committee. Mrs. Flowers informed the federation that the Mayor’s garden seeds are to be issued soon and will be obtainable by requests. APRIL BIRTHDAYS: April 1-Paul Carter, 2808 N.
