THE U^Jj^l^^COROER p AGE n

By Elder David Howard Jr.

ELDER DAVID HOWARD JR. All men are born in sin because of Adam’s disobedience. God being fair and just allows this to be personal with

each person. Each person is allowed to choose between coming out of son and becoming a child of God or remaining and causing himself to be destroy-

ed.

This became so personal with God about his creation (you) He placed His word into flesh, made like unto sinful flesh* (Romans 8:3), named him Jesus and gave him all power in heaven to redeem man. Jesus built his church, chose, taught and commanded 12 men to teach and preach deliverance to all nations in his name. They were not permitted to teach or preach until they had received the power (the Holy Ghost) (Acts 1:4-8). After they had received this power, they were acting so strange some accused them of drinking new wine (Acts 2:13). The apostle Peter made it known they were

Here's hoping each of you had a most joyous Thanksgiving, especially in light of all we have to be grateful for. This week’s meditation is from the New Baptist Church Bulletin. Whatsoever things are true, with naught of guilt to hide. Whatsoever things are right, and pleasantness beside. Whatsoever things are honest, full of good report, ' Whatsoever things are just, and fair within God’s court. Whatsoever things are pure and undefiled as snow. Whatsoever things are lovely dwell on as we go. If there be any virtue, any love or any joy, resolve that these your daily fare, your thought-life to employ. If there be any praise, or any good that you can find, may this be the treasure-store within your heart and mind. Think on these delightful things the Lord requires of thee, then there will never be a place for Satan’s artistry. *•* Many thanks to ministers who saw that young people attended last week’s Midwest Baptist Youth Conference in Chicago. There was a bit of controversy since the gathering was at Malcom X School and some thought convention money would go to the school. No so. Nevertheless some 500 persons were on hand for the meaningful discussions. * * * The Pentecostal Ambassadors and Bishop’s Choir of Grace Apostolic Church present the Institutional Church of Christ Radio Choir from Brooklyn in concert Saturday night at 7 at Marian College, 3200 Cold Spring Road. Rev. T. Garrott Benjamin, Second - Christian Church minister, has a sermn record out called “Catching Hell." Second Christian Church’s listening center is now open and available to anyone for use. On the sick list is Dr. T. B. Boyd, executive director. National Baptist Publishing Board He’s a patient at Westside Hospital, 2208 Patterson, NashviDe. * * * We welcome Bishop Benjamin T. Moore, D. D., new minister of Christ Temple Apostolic Church. A new comer to the city he and his family will be honored at a reception Saturday night at 7 in the church’s dining hall. * * * Rev. John C. Butler Of New Hope Baptist Church will be main speaker for Central District Baptist Association’s monthly meeting Thursday night, December 8, at 10 at True Light Baptist Church. * • • The Murk Family sings Sunday at Northside Baptist Church. Meeting at noon Dec. 8 will be the Church Federation’s Communication Unit. Members will gather at the Inter Church Center. * • • Men and Boys Choir of Christ Church Cathedral on the Circle present a special concert Sunday at 4. If churches want to show their genuine interest in

community problems, now’s the time. I speak of the giant Mission Action ‘77 evangelistic campaign now in progress at the Convention Center. Sponsored by a group of interdenominational ministers, it features nightly at 7:30 p.m. Dr. M. L. Price of Houston as speaker. It ends Friday. * • • Michael Smith of Christ church Apostolic was ordained a minister of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World during the recent Bible Students of Indianapolis meeting. The young clergyman is a Tech High School graduate, studied at Arenon Bible College in Columbus, Ohio and received his master’s from Harvard University last year. It’s time to remind you to sent old Christmas cards to First Baptist Church, 877 Udell Indianapolis, 46208. They’ll be used to cheer many who feel forgotten. Any type of card is acceptable except ones with personal messages and personal photographs. • • * Again this year Cathedral High School Mother’s Club is offering holiday fruitcakes. Contact Mrs. Robert Shallenberger, 503., McCray, Indianapolis 46224. * * * The Missionary Society of Olivet Baptist Church will have Rev. W. A. Dennis of New Salem Baptist Church as speaker for their special services Sunday at 3:30 p.m. • • • Daily’s Convalescent Home’s door decorating contest ends with judging December 6. Residents and relatives have been busy decking their doors in a holiday motiff. Judges will be violet Talley, Constance Palmer, Alice Wilson and Steven Talley. Prizes are being donated by Chi Chapter; Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and Koline Klub. Sponsor is Mrs. Mattie Moore assisted by Violet Talley. • • * Young people in Pakistan don’t court and don’t select their mates. Weddings are agreements made between parents and there are no coed schools. This unusual fact was brought out during West Parkview Baptist Church Senior Citizen’s dinner for international students Saturday. Program coordinator was Samuel D. Sangner of Parkistan. The gathering enjoyed dinner served by senior citizens and a program with a definite international flavor. The group meets the second and fourth Saturday of each month at 10 a.m.

not drunk; this is God’s way provided for men to redeem themselves. Apostle Peter being in charge and given the key to heaven (St. Matthew 16:19), having people from every nation assuredly that God hath made that same Jesus whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.” “Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart (a sharp pain entered their hearts) and said unto Peter and the rest of the apostles, men and brethern what whall we do?” This is the question each person should be asking today instead of trying to justify himself by saying and doing things that hav no meaning toward salvation. “Then Peter said unto them, repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” This is God’s way for all to receive the one Lord, be in the one faith, and have the one baptism. (Ephesians 4:5) Peter said to them “For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off (where were you then?) even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” “And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying ’save yourselves from this untoward generation! “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine (they did what the apostles said).” What about you? Are you willing to do what they say and be saved? "And fellowship, and in breaking of ^ bread and in prayer. (Acts 2:36, 42) And all that believed were together and had all things common. And sold their possessions and goods and parted them to all men, as every man had ned. And they continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singlesness of heart. "Praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. (Acts 2:44-47) This is God’s only given way for any to be saved. If there are any questions about God’s way for salvation, please send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Elder David Howard Jr., 4918 Winthrop Ave., Indianapolis 46205.
