Relatives and friends from Indianapolis havereturned home after enjoying a gala Allen Family Reunion July 23 In Atlanta, Ga. Travel was furnished by Greyhound Coaches and housing was at the beautiful She-rator--Biltmore Hotel. There were three busloads. Six states represented at the reunion were Georgia, Florida, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, and Indiana. While In Atlanta, the group toured the graveslte of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the S 1 x Flags over Georgia Am isrment Park, and the famous Atlanta Underground. They also traveled through Tennessee touring Rock City and Look-Out Mountain. Those attending, from Indianapolis wore Messrs, and Mmes. 'Miss Teenage America' Pettiford contest is on WISHyTV reunion
NEW YORK. N.Y., - The finals of t h e second annual Miss Black Teenage America Pageant will be given national television syndication this summer, according t o Hal Jackson, executive producer of the Pageant. For the second year, PepsiCola Company and Its local Bottlers will sponsor the one hour TV program. They represent 34 states (Including Alaska) and t h e

M r f. Essie Crenshaw of 3909 Boulevard has recently returned from a month's visit with her sister, Mrs. Hazel Parks, in Boston, Mass., and niece, Miss Dorothy Jean Parka. Some of the places of note visited were Poet’s Corner, Fanuel Hall, built In 1742 by Peter Fanuel; Durgln Park, famous for Its fine food; Paul Revere's house, Bunker Hill Monument, Trinity Church where Brooks, the composer of “O Little Town of Bethlehem” attended; Arlington Street Church, oldest church In the United States; Beacon Hill’s Antique Row, and the State House. ' Seen was the State House statue of Mayer Dyer, a Quaker, who« was the first wohian hanged on the Commons for teaching religion. Also viewed were historic Plymouth Rock, Plymouth, Mass.; Old Ironsides, and Battleship Constitution, wnich she went aboard. This Is the only ship In the United States flying the British flag constantly on American soil. Mrs. Crenshaw visited the homes of John Adams, second president of the United States; John Quincy Adams, sixth president of the United States, and Charles Francis Adams, former minister t o Great Britain. She took a trip over the Freedom Trail. The Indianapolis resident visited several places of worship including Old South Church, where her nephew, Paul Parks Sr., attends; St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, where her nieces attends; Union United Methodist Church, a n d St. Matthew’s Church. While in Boston, Mrs. Crenshaw was entertained by many people at brunches, luncheons, and dinners. Her hosts Included Mr. and Mrs. Paul Parks Sr., Miss Dorothy Jean Parks and Mrs. Hazel Parks. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Anderson of Westboro, Mass., and Mrs. Dorothy Louise Parks. She enjoyed a trip by ferry boat to a picnic at Nantasket and Paragon Park. Allen Chapel lay youths relish picnic
The Lay Youths of Allen Chapel AME Church celebrated the closing activity of another successful year with a cook-out picnic at one of the member’s home, Barbara Hannah, 2301 E. 59th, on Saturday, Aug. 12. Indiana Lay Youth of the Fourth Episcopal District won the trophy again this year, having sold the most booster memberships. The conference was held in East St. Louis, 111., where many AME youths of the city attended. These funds are used for a scholarship each year, going to the youth expressing the most talent when the conference convened In the Indiana District. At the closing of Allen’s king and queen contest, Barbara Hannah was crowned queen and Stevie Williams king. Each year the youths work toward one constructive project for the church.
