NBWS YOU MIGHT HAVE READ KLREWHERE - go WHAT?. , .The great Jackie Robinson of baseball fame and * glory has lost the sight of one •ye, and the other la in bad eondltltlon. He haa diabetes. Our prayers go, out to Jackie, - may hla sight return to normal in both eyes. Are you with me and Jackie in your prayers? (Good Deal!) According to what we read In The Star of July 20, the executive secretary of the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission, has filed a petition seeking disbarment of Mrs. Nola Allen (one of the few black women attorneys in Naptown) former 11th District Republican chairman, has been filed with the Indiana Supreme Court. (We shall see what we shall see.) CAN YOU BEAT THIS? A woman is kidnapped right here in the 500 block of Indiana Ave. and we knew nothing about it. This woman was lucky, she came back alive. Maybe one of these days young women will STOP jumping in cars driven by men looking for PICKUPS. THE ROLLING STONES with Stevie Wondere were here and played to a packed house at the Expo. I think theyranONE ad in the dailys. I was told by one of the sponsors that the concert would be a sellout three weeks ahead of time. He was right. Now the Spectrum in South Philadelphia which holds 16,500 person have been sold out for a month. What is it these Cats got that makes them so doggone hot? I don't dig them a-TALL! SHAME ON THOSE BLACKS (political ajusters (hustlers), who actually booed Hubert Humphrey in Miami Beach. The so-called Black Caucus seems to have forgotten the stand Mr. Humphrey took on civil rights in 1948. Some of these Cats are angling for jobs and loot (thos pretty green things). When will the Negro stop ignoring his friends and flying blindly to the other side. Are they trying to get their MUGS on TV and be called black leaders by some dumb ofay commentator, who falls to see these guys like millions of black folk do. Just a bunch of hungrey Cats fighting for leadership and the fast buck. Mrs. Shirley Chisholm, whom they all Ignored, promises to tell about the $25,000 and motfe handed out In the campaign. We are waiting for names. . . be- * cause we are sure we have the very same guya pin-pointed to a tee. These ofay made leaders (TV, Radio and Press) aren't foolin' anybody but themselves. There 1* not a Martin Luther King In the crowd. (AMEN!) "THE WALLS (HOUSES) CAME TUMBLING DOWN"Urban Renewal (Negro Removal) has just about cleaned out all the blacks living In single homes in downtown Naptown. . .and other houses and bldgs, will come tumbling down along the Avenoo, N. West St. and California--to make way for one-way traffic south on California direct to I-P campus. The Avenoo Isas lonely as a graveyard any day and almost any night. You call the time. Saturday nights resemble an old dead western town --- not a soul stirring. Taverns half emotv and girls of the street catching holy H. . L. You betta believe it. We told you in advance that these things were in the

offering, but without a Frank Beckwith (bleaa hia aoul) nothing waa done — and nothing la being done. You blacks who have grabbed off those choice job* by keeping your mouths closed (because you're living in your sanctum sanctorluma) wjll some day wake up to yourself and realize what phonies you are. (and I ain't whistling Dixie.) GEROGE W. ADAMS la now open for business In a alcove just off the grand Hall in the Federal Bldg. Adams Imports is operated by Mr. Adams (a black man) and will specialize in a line of glftware, costume jewelry, fabrics and art. Try and find time in your busy social schedule to look him over. T’would be a good deal. FATE DEALS A CRUEL HAND? A white girl in South Africa is turning black. “I feel the same as I did when I was white, said Miss Pepler, according to article by Kenneth Whiting in the Sunday Star. “But it is terribly humiliating to even go into the street and know that I am no longer accepted as white. I have not given up hope that I will be white again soon. Whoever wrote that head (CHICKENS COME HOME FOR 2 IN SEGREGATED SOUTH AFRICA) sure knows what to say. “It is particularly embarrassing for us. . . we believe in white supremacy,*’ said her mother. Could this be the beginning of somethiilg new for those white-supremecist? The Africans, Indians and Coloreds are just sitting back watching the show. DIG THIS! 57 murders committed in New York in 7 days. . . .810 murders for the six months ended June 30. . .Are we really living in a jungle. Count the number of murders happening here and it make things look like all of us are on the 'murder' kick. What can we do about It? BASEBALL (How about that organization?) NEGRO PLAYERS IN NATIONAL LEAGUE number is 91. Pirates 13; Cubs 5; Cardinals 8; Mets 5 with Mays; Montreal Expos 3; Phillies 6; Dodgers 9; Braves 13; Astros 7; Giants 6 without Mays; San Diego Padres 6; Red 10. Orioles 8; Red SOX 5; Tigers 8; Yankees 6; Milwaukee Brewers 7; Indians 3; Oakland AthleticaO; White Sox 8; Kansas City Royals 4; Minnesota Twins 5; California Angela 4 and Texas Rangers 7. Row would you like your Mon to be drawing salaries like these. Then support baseball, Thar'" money Indent dar hills! According to Ebony there are 33 players making $100,000 a year In baseball to day. Hank Aaron (Braves) $200,000; Fergie Jenkins (Cubs) $125, 000; Billy Williams (Cubs) $115,000; Roberto Clemente (Pirates) $150,000; Dick Allen (White Sox) $ 135,000; Juan Marlchal (Giants) $140,000; Willie Mays (Giants before the trade) $165,000; and Willie McCovey $120,000: Frank Robinson (Dodgers) $140,000 and Maury Wills $100,000; Bob Gibson (Cardinals) $150,000 and Lou Brock $110,000. Can your son make that much moola outside of sports. Betta let him play some kind of ball--foot-basket or hard. FORMER DESK MAN WlllTURN TO PAGE 11

PAUL ROBESON JR. once received the Stalin Peace Prize, said his father "was years ahead of his time" In his attack on racism in America. In an interview appearing in the premier issue of Encore magazine, now on newsstands, he declared, "Inopenly attacking American racism in the late 40s, my father was years ahead of his time. And for a man of his stature and pre-eminence to attack American racism publicly was a challenge of great dimensions to the establishment of the time." Robeson said, "The government responded to the challege by deliberately and as a matter of policy setting about to destroy his career and thus effectively silence him and the uncomfortable truths he was speaking. It is a matter of record that people lost federal jobs for going to my father’s concerts." In the same Issue, author Howard Fast Is quoted as stating that the great Black singer was never a Communist but that as a matter of pride he never told anyone officially. Robeson Jr. said that his father as earlv as 1946 told former president Harry Truman that "if the government did not protect the rights of Black people, Negroes would do so themselves.
