Elder Lawrence Shepherd presided at the beautiful rites held Sunday, June 18, at 3:30 p.m. at the Capitol Avenue Seventh Day Adventist Church. The altar decor included two bouquets of gladioli and carnations, and potten palms for grennery. Music played with solemnity on the organ was “Walk Hand in Hand With Me,'* “A Time For Us,"'and "The Lord's Prayer." Mrs. John Oakley was pianist.

Her headpiece was a crown of re-embroidered Venice lace and a touch of sequins with silk illusion veiling. M i s s Iris Mitchell was maid-of-honor. She wore a full length gown of blue chiffon bodice with satin buttons from the neck to the waistline and the skirt of re-embroi-dered white lace over blue taffeta.

Their gowns were identical to the one worn by. the maid-of-honor and were of romance blue. Garden huts of voille material and matching colors highlighted their attire. Little Miss Perpetual Ann Clanton of Marlon , Ind., was flowergirl. Her floor - length gown was of romance blue. Her bouquet was composed of pompons and babiesbreath. Robert Alan Green was best man. Ushers were Robert S. Murrell, and Harold A. Williams, M a r i o n, Ind. Groomsmen were Lynwood Embry, Vincent Harrington, and Williamm Randle of Marlon, Ind. A reception followed immediately after the ceremony at 2143 Boulevard PI. The hall was decorated in the colors of blue and white. Hostesses were Mmes. Barbara B r y a n t, Burdetta Lumsey, Wheatie Everett, T h e 1 m a Simpson, Bernice Massey, and Rosemary Porter, and Miss Diane Jackson. Out - of - town guests were Messrs, and Mmes. conducted as usual with the president, Mrs. Lillian Hooks presiding. Plans for the coming year were discussed at length, and Mrs. Bessie Rutland was appointed chairman of the 1973 special activity. As is her custom, M r s. McKeller, had planned something very special for her guests. Each member was given a number and young Skipper McKeller drew the lucky numbers for his mother. The winners were Mrs. Bessie Rutland, Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Wilhelmenia Strayhorn, and Miss Laura Helms. The ladles were quite pleased with their prizes. The president, Mrs. Hooks, joined by the club, welcomed t h e newest member, Mrs. Taylor. At this time the hostess with the help of her daughter Miss Michelle McKeller, s e r v e d a delicious repast, which was enjoyed by everyone. The next meeting will be in September with Mrs. Helen Woolford as hostess.

MISS CRYSTAL B. Williams and James W. Cheatham were joined together in holy matrimony Saturday, June 10. The ceremony was held at Grace Apostolic Church. The wedding party included 20 members. A reception was held immediately following the ceremony at the church. Later that evening, the bride and groom were entertained by more relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew I. Williams are parents of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Whitener are parents of the groom.
MR. AND MRS. Frazier King celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Saturday, June 24, in the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs, Ronald King. The couple was happily surprised by their children, Ronald and Frazier, of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Roslyn Kirk of San Francisco, Cal., when they arrived at the gala affair. Mra. John Charles Jones of Saginaw, Mich., received her master’s degree June 11 in math education from Michigan State University. She is the former Virginia Nicholas of Indianapolis. The ex - Hoosier received her bachelor of arts degree magna cum laude from Michigan State University. She’ plans to continue her studies in t h e field of educational diagnostic proscription. Mrs. Jones, who has taught in the Saginaw School System for five years, has spent the last three years as a math specialist at Heavenrick Elementary School. She is also a math consultant for the Educational Progress Corporation of Tulsa, Okla. Mrs. Jones was nominated for national recognition and received her certificate as one of the leaders of American elementary and secondary education. The educator is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, the National, Michigan, and Saginaw education associations, and is an active member in the different professional math groups. Mail or phone in articles about your vacation or who visited you before Monday at 6 p.m.). *** Miss Elizabeth Snorton of 246 Buckingham Dr. went with her church group, the Junior High MYF of North Methodist Church, on a week's tour of Washington, D.C. They departed June 18 and returned home June 24. They toured the Washington Monum e n t, Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, and had a special tour of the Capitol by Congressman W i 1 1 iams of Pennsylvania. The group was allowed to sit in on the passing of a bill on child care. They also visited the Shrine Immaculate, the largest Catholic temple in the United States; Arlington National Cemetery, Kennedy Memorial, and the tomb of the unknown soldiers. All were very Interesting. They also toured the downtown area and escaped about an hour before the flood. Elizabeth is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Snorton and will be a freshman at Shortridge High School In September.
