Hoosier delegates include Mrs. Helen Beeler and Mrs. William Howard. A sad note was struck with news of the death of Dr. D.C. Pettaway of Little Rock, Ark., former president of the convention. The highly esteemed clergyman, a member of the Baptist World Alliance, gave up his presidency last year. He shall be sadly missed by the masses who knew him. *** Dr. Robert W. Koening, exedirector of the Church Federation, is home after attending a study conference in Washington. *** Southern Baptist Church decided to rename its Baptist Training Union the Church Training Union. *** Get - well greetings to Dr. Paul Battles at Methodist Hospital and John Rutland recently released from the hospital. *** Rev. J.L. Nelson of Pennsylvania speaks Sunday, 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church, North Indianapolis. The church's missionary chorus, directed by Miss Mary Fitts, sings at 7:30 p.m. *** Leaders representing 14 Baptist conventions from the United States and Canada will participate on the program of the Continental Congress on Evangelism scheduled for Washington, D.C., Oct. 10-13, according to an announcement by Owen Cooper, chairman of the program committee. This number represents 11 conventions from the United States and three from Canada. The keynote address will be presented by C.E. Autrey, director of evangelism of the Southern Baptist Convention. A few of the principal speakers include James H. Jackson of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., Gardner C. Taylor of the Progressive National Baptist Convention; Gordon Schroeder of the American Baptist Convention; Emmett Johnson of the Baptist General Conference, and John W. Willitms, vice-president of the Baptist World Alliance. More information can be obtained from L.E. Mrs. Dora Banks, 80-year-old wife of the late Rev. Mitchell D. Banks Jr., died August 17 in Wei born Hospital. A daughter, Mrs. Gustine Henson, lives in Indianapolis. Due to the pastorate of her husband 50 years , Mrs. Banks Joined and served at the following churches: St. John Baptist Church, Smith Mills, Ky,, Race Creek Baptist Church, Henderson, Ky.,; Independence Baptist Church and Nazarene Baptist Church, Evansville. Rev. Banks served Nazarene Baptist for 22 years. At Nazarene Baptist Church Mrs. Banks served faithfully. She taught Sunday School and served with the Mothers Board, the Mission Society and the Bright and Morning Star Club. Survivors in addition to Mrs, Henson are two other daughters, Mrs. Mary Ella Shearer of Evansville, and Mrs. Naomi Lawson of Nashville, Tenn,: two sons, Mitchell D.
