Eastside Baptist Church to observe Pastor's 20th year

The Eastside Baptist Church, 2845 Baltimore will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their beloved pastor and his wife, the Rev. and Mrs. Andrew L. Williams on Sunday, July 28th. The theme is “Thy Grace is Sufficient.” Special guests will be the Rev. R. H. Faulner and congregation of Marion, Ind. Services will be held at 3:30 and 8:00 p.m. Under the leadership of Rev. Williams and the tender mercies of God, Eastside has grown from one room frame building and eight members to a “temple truly fit for God” and membership in the hundreds. It has by no means been an easy task as the song writer said, “Over hills, over mountains— through trouble, heartache and pain, that’s how we’ve come.” In addition to being the dynamic leader of an ever growing congregation, Rev. Williams is also a teacher in the Indianapolis Public School system and a newly elected city councilman. Mrs. Williams works faithfully to aid in the growth and development of the church and is

Bethel AME Women's Day set Sunday Mrs. Carolyn B. Thomas will be the speaker for Women’s Day services at Bethel AME Church, Sunday morning July 21 at 10:45 a.m. Mrs. Thomas resides in Buffalo, New York. She is a member of Bethel AME Church, the Sunday School Superintendent and holds various offices in other organizations of the church. She has a degree in Sociology from the State University of New York at Buffalo and is presently doing graduate study in the University of Buffalo. Mrs. Thomas is presently employed as a Unit Supervisor with Family Service Reach-Out. She is President of the Evening Division of Church Women United, member of National Association of Federated Club Women, Business and Professional Women’s Club of Buffalo and Founder and group consultant # to the Data and Chatter Club, a fact-finding group.
