I.U.-Purdue
C—tbw4 tnm Pmgo I scientiousness of the unrest and upheaval that would inevitably insue since these churches serve more than twentythousand people. Destroying their church is like destroying them. Is I.U.’s intention not only to force our people from their homes, but also to uproot them from their temples and tabernacles? We do not have the answer, for I.U. has totally and completely overlooked, ignored and insulted the Negro churches and the Negro ministers, in the following ways and many more: 1: They did not seek to inform people. 2. They totally by-passed the churches and their ministers and as such no assistance has been offered churches in the gruesome task of relocating. A task that has been made almost impossible because of the blunt refusal on the part of most lending agencies to finance Negro churches. 3. Since the people in this area are predominantly a low income group. Has l.U. considered some type of easy financing for the relocating of these peoples places of wor-
ship? This problem plagues our hearts and these questions are ever present burdens on our tongues. Before we have answered with Christ-like patience. Nothing happened. We only say it may be fire the next time. COMMISSION MEMBERS: Rev. J. Earl King, chairman; Rev. Rubin Fields, Rev. M. Bernard Girton, Rev. C. V. Jeter, Dr. H. T. Toliver, Rev. Alexander Bernard, Rev.
