NAACP seeks 30,000 Negro registrants A masive campaign to reach every unregistered Negro voter in Marion County has been launched by the local NAACP Branch, Mrs. Virgia Davis, president, announced this week. Primary goal of the drive is to absorb before the October 5 deadline the approximately
30,000 local qualified Negro voters who have yet failed to register. The NAACP is urging these persons to register immediately at offices in the basement of the City-County Building which will be open daily, except Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. For those without transportation, car service to the CityCounty Building will be provided if they phone ME. 5-4690. NAACP workers have been actively engaged in trying to get persons to register all season but decided this “last minute push” was needed. Mrs. Lilia Adams is chairman
and D. W. D. Hector, coordinator, of the Voter Registration Proiect.
