Sorors Hear Commission's Director At Founders' Affair

At the Founders’ Day celeOration of Gamma Chapter. Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc., Saturday. March 17, in the East-West Rooms of the Sheraton-Lincoln Hotel, Mra. Albert C. Spurlock, deputy director of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, stressed the Negro woman’s duty to her husband, children and self. Her speech was the high point of the celebration which consistea of a delectable dinner including a Mocha Torte . Birthday Cake with 19 candles. Chairman of the affair was Mrs. Marie Blow who was ably assisted by Mesdames Ernestine Jackson, Winifred Smith and Dorothy Burres. Following the invocation by Mrs. State President Of American War Mothers To Speak Mrs. Mary Mitchell of Muncie, state president of the American War Mothers, will address the In dianapolis Chapter 41 at its Sunday. April 1, meeting. It will be held in the home of Mrs. Pearl Chambers, 3422 N. Kenwood.

Violinist Is Featured In Links' Program Dr. Paulson Kailsam, graduate student at Butler University and former representative of the Indian Embassy, will address teenagers at a “Sunday In India” program. Following Mrs. Spurlock’s thought-provoking talk was a general discussion after which Mrs. Lillian Davis presented the basileus with a pearl and rhinestone bracelet with matching earrings as a token of appreciation for her past year of service.

Bridge Players Invited To Enter Benefit Tournament

Bridge players have been invited by the Central Indiana Bridge Association, in cooperation with the Western Electric Bridge Club, to participate in a tournament Saturday, April 7, at 1:15 p.m. in the Western Electric Company plant, 2525 Shadeland. The one-session open pair event will benefit the Kidney Disease Foundation and the Family Service Association of America. Entry fee will be $2.50 and contestants should bring their own partners. No reservations or advance notice is needed. There will be no deductions for expenses. Prizes, donated by the Bridge Association

and Master Points, based on the regular American Contract Bridge League formula for sectional events, will be awarded the winners and runners-up.

'Spring Frolic' A “Spring Frolic” has been slated by Alpha Alpha Zeta Chapter of Alpha Gamma Chi Sorority for Saturday night, March 31, from 9 p.m till 1 a.m. at the RCA Hall, 3518 E. Michigan. Proceeds will be used for the sorority’s annual scholarship fund, it was announced by Mrs. Martha J. Shelton, publicity chairman.
