Foreign Designers Creations to Be Viewed in Summer Fashion Show

French, Italian and American designers will share the limelight Sunday, September 10, as styles fashioned by lovely Mrs. Cordie King Stuart and supporting models will spotlight original creations styled by the expert artists. Detailed plans were completed this week by J. L. King, chairman, and Mrs. Clo Woolridge, general chairman, for the 4 p. m. show at the Fall Creek Parkway YMCA. Members of the trustee board of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, who are sponsoring the show, will serve as official hosts and hostesses for the many guests expected to attend. William Craig Elected Club President

William Lester Craig was elected president of the Com-Wo-Lei Club at the -organizational meeting held July 28. Purpose of the club is to provide good fellowship and entertainment for members and friends. Meaning of the name is Companionship, Work and Leisure. Club motto is “My Duty is My Pleasure” and colors are navy blue and white. Other officers are Messrs. Lamar Peterson, vice-president and business manager; Harold Rogers, secretary; Lee Arthur Miller, financial secretary; Alvia Coleman, treasurer; Thomas Craig, historian, and Edward Spurlock, reporter. Members are Messrs. John Tate, Willie Reed, James Willingham and Richard Hedgsoeth. Mr. Rogers of 2320 Sugar Grove will entertain at the Friday, September 8, meeting. Time will be at 8 p.m.

KOKOMO GRADS. Mrs. ' Bertha Paul (left) and Miss Charolotte Hall were graduated recently from the Ball Memorial Hospital School of Nursing at Muncie. Both received nurses' pins along with 44 other members of the class. Mrs. Paul and Miss Hall attended Indiana University a year before entering nursing school and were graduated from Kokomo High School in 1955 and 1956 respectively. Mrs. Paul is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thompkins of 10)4 N. Lafontaine, Kokomo, while Miss Hall is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Lewis Hall of 1030 Apperson Way North, Kokomo. The nurses are currently employed at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Paul will leave soon for Spain to join her husband, A/lc Rollie Paul.

Pettiford Family Has Reunion

An octogenarian and a septuagenarian were the oldest members of the Pettiford Family present at the 43rd annual family reunion held Sunday, Aug. 20, on the Fred Beck Farm just outside of Marion, Ind. Relatives from as far away as Boston, Mass., traveled to the event. Originally the reunion consisted of 17 brothers and sisters of whom 11 survive. Oldest relatives present were Mrs. Amie Wilson of Marion who has reached the ripe old age of 80, and Mrs. Orinda Miller of Indianapolis who will attain the venerable age of 76 in September. Others present included Mrs. Leroy Smith, Mrs. Joseph Galbreath, Mrs. Willis Johnson of Kokomo, Dr. Robert Pettiford, Cleo Pettiford, Foy Pettiford and Mrs. Ollie Malone of Indianapolis. Out-of-towners in attendance were Cassius Pettiford of Chicago, Leo Wilson and son, Steve of Boston, Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Wilson of Battle Creek, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Beck and daughter, Kristen of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Beck of Xenia, Ohio. The day was spent in feasting and reminiscing over reunions gone by. Reluctantly as the shades of evening drew night, visitors and relatives began to wend their way towards home and once again another Pettiford reunion came to a close.

Deviating from the usual rules, the club has changed its policies so that this year models who have participated may do so again. Emphasis is being put on the model rather than any particular age group .
