The girls* softball team of Northwestern Park gave an exhibition and Luther Standard, president, and members of the Indianapolis Judo Club thrilled and held spellbound Hie huge crowd of youngsters and adults with their stunts. Al Allen, director of physical education for Mayer Chapel, brought along his boxing ring and acted as referee for the bouts. Building up a big appetite, the kids were ready for the baked beans, hot dogs, milk, snowballs, potato chips, ice cream and cake available through a competent kitchen staff managed by Merle Crenshaw. The picnic assistants included Mrs. JSlizabeth Stewart, Mrs. Thirsey Lee Lang, Mrs. Mary Gray, Mrs. Thelma Thompson, Mrs. Alice Johnson, Mrs. Lula Mae White, Mrs. Evelyn McClaren, Mrs. Louise Covington, Mrs. Gertrude Brame, Mrs. Eleanor Wooley and Mrs. Louvenia Stephens. Also Mrs. Helen Maxwell, Mrs. Ethel Compton, Mrs. Olvernia Oliver, Mrs. Rosa Lee Akers, Mrs. Lertius Johnson, Mrs. Earlee Combs, Mrs. Harriett B. Conn, Mrs. Lucille Ervin, Mrs. DeVoxie Cornell, Mrs. Vemetta Oliver, Mrs. Troy Manlove and Mrs. Laura Lewis.
