crossed the line. One who was known to the n ; nister and begged not to go in the store said, “If people don’t want to hire us, we shouldn’t want to work there.” That same Friday of last week that the pickets walked in front of Flint’s Supermarket, representives of the Fair Share Organization were negotiating with the manager of C & C Drugstore, 2102 W. Michigan. Ben Wakefield, the manager, was warned that if he did not hire Negroes soon, his business would be picketed. Mr. Wakefield told the Recorder, ‘I had already planned to hire Negroes and was going to do so anyway. It doesn’t make me any difference.” True to his word, Bertie Lane and Rosa

Tenner, 709 Sheffield were hired immediately. The organization also conferred with the manager of Joe's Regal Market, 720 N. Tremont, who likewise hired a Negro this week. Included in the picketing of Flint’s were Franklin Minton, YMCA; Otis Martin, YMCA; Earl Smith, YMCA; Robert Tapp, Jessie Tibbs, 722 N. Sheffield and John Oliver Jr., 1301 W. 31st. Officers of the Fair Share Or- j ganization are Rev. Mozell Sanders, president; John Morris, cochairman; Louis Bonner, co-chair-man; Mrs. Onetta Wright, secretary; Mrs. Sarah Washington, assistant secretary; Rev. M. L. Me-1 Keller, treasurer; Roland Squires,; assistant treasurer and Rev.
