CHURCH EVENTS ... of the City
By WILLA THOMAS
Again God blessed us with a beautiful weekend and Sunday was a grand day. It was good to see so many people going to church to worship God. I sure that those who went to church to listen to God’s word found the Joy and the peace that only can te given by God, our Creator. We are grateful also that God sent the much needed rain along to help the crops grow. All of us should be thankful to God for his blessings. REV. JOHN SCOTT, has returned home from the hospital and is doing batter. Those who wish may visit with him ai 966 W. 20th St. I AM very proud of the two young members of my Sunday School class, at First Baptist Church, who have done such a wonderful job in playing the organ during the worship. Misses Norma Batie and Charlotte Adams, I pray that you will continue to render this fine service each Sunday. It is good to encourage the young folk in the church by letting them render service in the name of the
Lord.

— REGISTER TO VOTE — Negro Biased Against GOP, Politician Says CLEVELAND, Ohio <ANP) — A Cleveland city councilman has accused northern Negroes of being blindly prejudiced against the
Republican party.
Ralph J. Ferk, a GOP candidate for county recorder, said the prejudice bv the northern Negro against the Republican is the “same kind of bias and prejudice which whites hold against the colored man
in the South. ’
Perk said he had been told by
Negroes that they would not vote for him regardless of his qualifications for office simply because
they would not vote Republican.
The councilman called it a “shocking tragedy” that Negroes in the North give only scant consideration to a Republican candidate no mat-
