Mrs. Alice R. Goodman, of New York, was in our city a few days, visiting her sister, Mrs. Maine S. Thomas, who has been confined in the hospital for some time. She returned to New York Sunday.

Chicagoans Will Speak On Russian Trip Two Chicago working people who recently visited Europe and Russia will report their experiences at a meeting to be held Sunday afternoon, July 31, at the United Packinghouse Workers *ail, 621 W. Washington. The meeting is sponsored by the Co-op Civic League. It will start at 3:30 p.m. * One of the speakers, Mrs. Sylvia Woods, was sent by the Afro-American Heritage to the Women’s International Conference held in Copenhagen in April. She visited France, Sweden. Denmark, and Latvia, Russia, Georgia and Armenia within the Soviet Union. A former local officer of the United Automobile Workers, Mrs. Woods is treasurer of the West Side Civic Association in Chicago and a leading member of Central Memorial Baptist Church. RALPH TURNER, the other
speaker, visited Poland and Russia with credentials from his lo-
cal union. A veteran of 33 years in dining-car service, he will report his findings about working and living conditions in the nations he toured. “This will be the first time in Indianapolis that working people have reported their findings about Eastern Europe,” said Oscar E. Banks, president of the league. “Most of the speakers have been reporters, ministers and farmers. Now we have a great opportunity to hear someone who labors for a living like most of us. Come out and bring your trierids.”
