To Start Tuesday
The YWCA summer program for girls between the ages of 9 and 14 will begin Tuesday morning, June 21 at Wesley Methodist Church, 30th and N. Tibbs. The girls will participate in crafts, dramatics, choral singing, charm, recreational sports and simple folk dancing. The group will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 to 11:20 A.M. Registration will be held Monday, June 20, from 1 to 3, at the Church. A course in beginning golf will also be taught at Wesley Methodist Church, starting Thursday, June 23 at 7:15 P.M. The'fourweek course is designed to help women, new at the game, learn the basic strokes, correct stance, swing and the use of the various clubs. With the exception of the plastic golf balls, all necessary equipment will be furnished for the class. Medical releases are required for physical activity. The Flanner House PTA will present its third annual Spring Festival, Friday, June 24, 7:30 P.M. The participants, ranging in age from 3 to 12, have been studying dancing under the direction of Miss Clara Edwards, who is also an instructor in the Indianapolis Public School system. These children are being skillfully trained on Saturdays, and many of them hope to become professional dancers. The out-of-doors affair promises to be a gala event, complete with scenery, music, and brightly colored costumes. Many business concerns and friends are donating their services "and money to help make this affair a success. Mrs. Virtea Downey and Mrs. Osma Spurlock are staff representatives, serving as consultants for the occasion. The public is invited.
