N. Y. Stylist to Be Guest Artist At IHDI Clinic

head stylist and consultant for the Rose Meta House of Beauty in New York is to be the guest artist for the Indiana Hair Designing Institute’s sixth annual Clinic and Professional Workshop. An outstanding instructor and lecturer, Simmons directs the summer workshop and clinic at Florida A & M University. Included among his many prizes and trophies is the New York State Beauty Cultural Association’s meritorious service award and a first place in the National Hair Designers Guild contest.

Visitors were greeted by Soror Patricia Beeler of Indianapolis. The response was given by Soror Raymonda Greene of Chicago. Special guests were presented next. The sorors were especially honored to have Soror Joanna B. Shields, one of the national founders of the Sorority and the mother of Rev. S. D. Shields of this city Rev. Shields spoke at the afternoon

luncheon.

Each member attending the lunch received a gift, a package ol pink note paper decorated with a green sorority symbol. During the afternoon session, a group of undergraduate sorority members led by Soror Ruth Montrose of Chicago participated in a sonffest—"Let’s Sing.” Another group of undergraduates, led by Soror Phyllis Smallwood of St. Louis, presented a Fashion Parade. The business meetings were concluded at 4:45 p. m. Saturday. The members re-assembled at 7 p. m. for their beautiful formal banquet. Spring floral decorations displayed the sorority colors and flower attractively. A large replica o the sorority pin with lights to represent the pearls, a huge flower filled bird cage, and individual floral centerpieces on each table added even more glitter and decor to the scene The Supreme Basileus of the national organization, Mrs Marjorie Parker of Washington, D. C. was the banquet speaker. She challenged her sorority members to take an active and courageous role in promoting the course of the American Negro during these trying

times.

The regional director formally closed the conference after the banquet Then the sorority members joined their escorts in the Travertine Room and danced to the delightful music of Larry Liggett and his band.

FASHIONS ON PARADE: The stirring and the chatter of little voices is heard, as they prepare to bring one of the well known events to view. The Easter Parade of the Recorder Women sponsors will be an everlasting memory in the minds of all who attended the gala affair. In the Upper Left we find Mrs. Alibi Hayes and Bunnies from school No. 87, Rickey Smith, Lavenia Haynes, and Quinsetta Williams then the Debutantes, Cynthia Winters, Linda Blackmon, Judy Waller, Patty Sue McMurray and Prudence Banister, all of which wore glamourous creations. The dancing dolls, Barbara Chery , l Thompson, RitHa Claren Grissom, Natalie Jane Bruce, and Karen Cork. Hundreds Brave Spring Chill to Attend Annual Easter Parade The exuberance of spring fashions overshadowed chilly Easter temperatures as hundreds of parents and friends turned out at Attacks High School Auditorium Monday evening to watch Tots, 'Tweens and Teens model colorful Easter costumes. This parade of fashions, showing many stunning ensembles, is now an annual ''looked-for'' event, presented under the auspices of The Recorder Women Sponsors.
