Attucks Alttnwi Set Drive Goal

The scholarship fund campaign recently launched by the Attucks High School Alumni association has set its fund goal at $500. The association president, William A. laylor, revealed that plans are under way to offer one 1957 Attucks graduate, to be selected by the association’s award Committee, a $200 scholarship each semester for one year. An additional $50 will be placed in a ro- ^ fating fund, also to be used for ) scholarships. The association has further planned to institute a scholastic loan fund to assist college upperclassmen. Bases for the selection of the scholarship recipients are need, performance in the four years of high school and faculty recommendation. An appeal is being made to Indianapolis Attucks alumni and alumni in other cities to make contributions to the fund by June 3. Checks should be made payable to the Crispus Attucks Alumni Association, Crispus Attucks high school, and sent in care of Miss Ollie Terry, executive secretary. It is also announced that the alumni yearbooks will be distributed at the association’s first fall meeting In the latter part of September. The yearbooks will contain excerpts from the constitution, a brief association history, the program for the ensuing year and other pertinent materials.

Former Resident, 101, Dies At Nashville Miss Rosa Reed, 101 years of age, a former resident of Indianapolis, died in Maharry Medical College, Nashville. Tenn.. recently. At the bedside was a niece. Mrs. Bertha Dunn Brown of Indianapolis. Another niece is Mrs. Phyllis .Marie Brown, Indianapolis, wife of Charles Brown bailiff of Criminal Court 2. A nephew- is Dr. Frank M. Brown also of Indlanipolis and the son of Charles Brown. Mrs. Reed, a resident here for 20 years, was during her active life an outstanding cateress. She made her home in recent years with another niece. Mrs. Alma Dunn Jones, member of the English department of Tennessee State University, Nashville.
