Johnson’s body was found at 4 that afternon in the gangway of the apartmemt house. Police at first thought he was drunk, until an examination at police headquarters revealed he • had been stabbed in the ch4st.
HE WAS RUSHED to Methodist Hospital, but was dead upon arrival. Miss JJurrell was arrested a few hours later drinking in the Broadway Tavern, 1701 Broadway. She was to be charged with murder and transferred to the county jail in Crown Point. Police said she told them she was a graduate of a Ctycago nursing

Shriners Plan Labor Day Fun At Evansville
EVANSVILLE — The Cawthor Shriners have completed plans for the observance of Labor Day, J. W. Lagrone, imperial deputy of the Oasis, has announced. The annual picnic and parade will highlight the day’s ac'-ivities. The motor parade will start at 2 from the Shrin Temple, and a mass meeting will be held at 3:30 in the Masonic Hall, 216 S. E. 5th. Principal speakers will be John E. Ridley of Carvr Community Center and Rev. Ford Gibson, pastor of Alexander Chapel AME Church. Plenty of barbecue and refresh*, ments will be served at the Shrine Temple, 222 S. E. 5th. Representatives of temples from Nashville and Hopkinsville will participate.
