Capital Medics Vote to Admit Negro Doctors WASHINGTON. D. C. fANP> — The issue' of whether or not Negro doctors will be admitted to the District Medical Society here will be decided on April 2. On that day menvners of the white medical group will vole on the specific statement that "no qualified physician shall be denied membership because of race, creed

Results of the April vote will serve as a directive to the society's board of censors, which passes on applications for admission. There is nothing in the society’s constitution or by-laws which bars election of Negro physicians to membership; however, no colored doctor has ever been elected. A mailed balloting of the society’s entire membership last spring designated to serve only as "an indication of sentiment,’’ resulted in a two-to-one vote in favor of ad-

milling Negro doctors. At present, some half-dozen applications from Negro doctors are under consideration. A sumber of medical societies in the south have taken action to admit Negroes. Among them were the societies of Arlington and Alexandria in Virginia.
