City Federation Women's Clubs Comptetes Plans Elect Con ven tionDelega tes The City Federation of Women’s clubs met at the club home June b at v\'iich time tokens were awarded various clubs for outstanding work. The Thursday Coterie received first prize; Fletcher Oak Hill second, and, Golden Leaf, third. Comments were given by Maud Robinson of the Woman’s Day meeting at Mt. Zion Baptist church and Mrs. Priscilla Dean Lewis and Mrs. Althea Miller also commented. Dele-
gates were elected for the state convention which will be held July 3. 4, 5, and 6 at Simpson’s Methodist church with a banquet at Mt.
Zion.
Mrs. Dorothea Breedings and Mrs. Florence Stiggars were elect ed delegate and alternate resi>ectively and the following committees for the convention were appointed : Mrs. Lula Bean, chairman of Housing; Mrs. Mattie G. Bazel. co-chairman; Mrs. Nettie German, and Mrs. Cot della Garnett. committee members. ■Members of the Cosmetologist & Hairdressers Association were hostesses and served a delicious repast. The Woman’s Improvement club will be next hostesses. Prizes were also given for the l>est essays on “Mother’s Day" and a mom. winners were Laura Ann Brown

Summer
Miss Ineta Marie Kirtley is at tome with her parents for the summer after a very popular and successful year at Howard university. She is soloist with the university choir and in the fall will leturu to. take part in the activities of the Alpha Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority. She was chosen among a group and made a trip to New York to sing ior the National Negro college fund drive. May 4 and she gave two brief concerts in Baltimore, Md., for the students at the Dunbar Hi school and an entertainment for the hi Hors at the Solomon Islands. Md.. and the soldiers at Ft. Belvoir. Va. She also sang the part of “Alda" May 27 with Doris Galiber of the Virgin Islands who sang I he part of “Aninerls” on the series. She had the honor of singing for Itoland Hayes, who thinks she has the most beautiful voices that he has heard in a long time and toll her that with no short cuts to her success she will be a gieat tribute io our race soon, just as so many others have been, and a delight to the music w’orld. She plans YWCA work this summer and will resume her junior year of studies in Oc-tolH-e. DOYAL HOGGAT The Anderson Foundation Scholarship. an award of $800 for four years’ study at. Indiana Central College was awarded to Doyal Hoggatt for 1944. He is a June graduate of Attucks High school and the son of Mrs. Mary Mosely. 839 Paca street. Hoggat attended local grade schools and Attucks. he was prominent in school activities and was member of the June Senior Play cast. The Scholarship Fund Committee of the Anderson Foundation has also under consideration scholarships for two former graduates of Attucks, these are "Wilbur Hicks and Ethel Weeden. Hicks has been an Anderson Foundation Scholarship student at Indiana university, and is now attending the Indiana University School of Medicine. Miss Weeden graduated from Franklin college this June and has entered Smith .College for graduate study.

East Side Civic Club Council Meets
Reports of committees at the last imetiitg of Elistside Civid Club’s Council pinned that cooperation brings results and also that civic groups aligned with the council are willing and able.
